I don't see much point in Hawke having a house even mentioned unless in offers a minigame or functional purpose...

It has a clear purpose--a base of operations in an urban setting.  If you're going to live in Kirkwall for ten years (let's say), it makes more sense to have an actual house within the city rather than camping just outside of it like you had to in DA:O.

And it will be the place, were Hawke and his wife/her husband are living with their children.

I guess in a way we are creating a Hawke/Logain charter. I whould like to know why if he/she is not destined to become a grey warden in the 10yrs what greater part they will playto the big picture? Any ideas

I'm not sure what you even mean by this.  The PC of DA2 is Hawke.  What does Loghain have to do with anything?

The Grey Wardens are just one aspect of a setting that is made of up many parts.  It's not a given that a PC must join the Order, even though that's basically how we were introduced to the setting.

Don't get your hopes up, people.

You will have a place to call your own. More info on that later, probably. Maybe. If we're nice. ;)

"If" they're nice. But it is known that they are not, in fact, nice. They subsist on our anguished tears, and, presumably, the souls of children.

the reason it's good to have your house is like in Awakening. We get to have our nice trophies, enchantment vendors and other trade sales guys and most likely a chest to store equipment.

I mean logain was the a hero to the people doing what had to be done to protect what he believed in. It seams hawke is doing much the same thing just an observation. I was just wondering to what end hawke is going to play in the big picture.

Anyone want to bet this house of ours is most definitely going to get trashed by our enemies at some point?

Oh thats an RPG trope that will never die- our home will get trashed/burned to the ground/ nuked from orbit.

It gives the Hero some reason to wander off, pose in a suitably dramatic locale, narrow their eyes with steely determination and look off into the sunset as they contemplate their destiny and the adventure that awaits them in the world beyond!

Well...DA2's story will be a decade long, it would suck to have Hawke sleep under bridges, trees and in brothels the whole ten years...

Hopefully you start out with some pile of scrap house in Low town, being a refugee from Fereldan and all. Over the years that may progress to a humble old house somewhere closer to the center of Kirkwall. And then once you become Champion you get your own mansion to stay in.

I just hope we don't have a pet cat who dies when it happens.

I doubt it, because your companions probably won't live with you, for the most part. They'll have homes of their own.

Ebon Hawke?

If they put in the Ebon Hawk as Hawke's home/base that would be the bravest and most epic easter egg done in a Bioware game.

Ha- we'll have a couple of freeloading companions that just sort of mooch off of Hawke and don't help out around Hawke's estate:
-----------------------------------------------------------
*Hawke wakes up and walks downstairs to find Varric passed out on the couch sleeping in a pool of his own vomit, covered in magic marker obscenities with pizza boxes and booze strewn about*

Hawke: Dude! Varric, what is this!?
*Varric rubs eyes, hung over*
Varric: Wha? Huh? The booze isss now diamonds!!!
*Varric passes out again in puddle of his own vomit*

*Hawke storms out in disgust*
---------------------------------------------------------
It will totally be Real World: Kirkwall or something:lol:

well with a home if we need to think about our actions more do to people will know where we live our family might get hurt do to us killing someone else or stealing thier stuff. I guess a tactfull person will have less grief maybe if its like real life drama rpg. I do hope for more game trailer previews.

Considering how much time I spent in the bathroom in Mass Effect 2, I would definitely enjoy having a house in Dragon Age 2. And I will! Thank you, Ser Gaider.

You're right.  Fable had homes for the sake of investing gold to generate income.
