I prefer my characters to be drifters so I don't have to go home and vacuum the carpet for 10 EXP.

Maybe Hawke himself burned it down after discovering his girlfriend Bella was snogging the Warden.

And then she steals Hawke's ship.

Hawke knocks on Varric's door, Varric answers in a towel and then 2 women walk by in the background.
Hawke "What happened?!?! You were supposed to watch her!!"
Varric  "Well she was with us about an hr ago"
Hawke  "Was the war-Wait WHAT?!?!?"

I want to know if we will have a place of our own. We have a party chest in DAO at the peak, but why not give us our own place to call home. If people not in our party go back to thier lives and jobs, why can't we(?)

You will have a place to call your own. More info on that later, probably. Maybe. If we're nice. ;)

"If" they're nice. But it is known that they are not, in fact, nice. They subsist on our anguished tears, and, presumably, the souls of children.

I don't know, that looks like a confirmation to me, at least as far as "a place to call your own" simply existing goes...

Bioware's got a fairly good track record where strongholds are concerned, so Gaider won't get any anguished tears from me on this one... he'll just have to wait and settle for good old fashioned greenbacks at release date.

Lets hope it works kinda like in Balder's Gate 2. I know the Normandy in Mass Effect 2 took that role with dire consequences if you didn't upgrade but It would be cool to man a fortress.

Just hope its not like the Normandy, where it takes ages loading to get to different parts of the ship to talk to characters. Prefer party camp over big home any day, because it is just quicker and easier.

EDIT: extra stuff

Dont know why they had to make the normandy so big, the Ebon Hawke was a breeze to get around, from KOTOR.

BG2 had the Stronghold quests, with every class having a unique stronghold.

I love houses in RPGs if they're done right and not just a cosmetic tacked-on afterthought.

If I'm going to be a legend, then I would expect to have a legendary home.

Oblivion did this right.  I couldn't even play it without the mod that gave you a little apartment in Market District of the Imperial City.  Oblivion obviously had different mechanics (you didn't heal without resting), but a house gave you a place to stash your things.  Lack of inventory space is a major problem for loot whor., ahem, collectors like myself.

the problem with oblivion homes are that knows where you live. I liked having a home in every location but it kept its name and unknown who live thier. Except for one with a maid. I did like that I could leave loot any where. Build a cloud ruler temple for us that would be just fine.

Hopefully we'll get some servants too. I mean, when Hawke becomes champion.

In Dragon Age 2 the carpets vacuum themselves. Posted Image

It's not a stronghold. Just abandon that idea right now.

hopefully the place wont have torches nailed against wooden arch ways. I always wondered why all of Denerim did not burn down.

No, just keeping people from getting on that "Oh! Maybe there's ponies and cotton candy too!" run and ending up being disappointed because the reality-- while still good-- isn't the thing they imagined it might be. Honestly, if I'd meant a stronghold or anything that you might consider a BG2-like stronghold I would have said so.

Is your home at least special in some way? I mean does it change over the 10 year period? Or does it stay completly the same?

You are the friggin Champion, you deserve a special home.

So, we're talking about Oblivion-style home? What I loved about them in TES4 is that you could cover every single bit of surface with cheesewheels.

They just make the place look... Psychedelic, perhaps?

@Sutamina: Because bottom parts of torches are subjected to cat ****** to keep them wet, and the intensity of smell indicates when it's time to renew it. Yup, that's why the grumpy looks on the faces of oblivion citizens and lack of cats.

Glad to know, even though a fortress or stronghold would be cool, I guess in the long run it kind of wouldn't make sense to have a stronghold to upgrade later in the game.

I wanted to say thanks for taking time to answer the question of our own home. I like most just want to know if it is a the whole hawke family [I.E. cousland estate] or home of our own? Something to buy build and maintain.

Hopefully our romantic encounters are in a private bedroom.

Yeah, it was bad enough borrowing Morrigan's tent for getting down, but when I realized that she's still standing there when you get it on with Zevran, things were never the same between us.

I prefer a medium-sized dog who only has 1 or 2 girlfriends at the most.
