I get my reticle in the right spot so i dont have to use the right stick much, hold down the fire button, and press b when i need to. It isnt that hard.

What happen when u have multiple targets then, or the target moves to the left or right. Ur sacrificing accuracy to shoot faster, and at that point the Claymore basically becomes a pray and spray weapon.

Yes, but still it becomes very hard to be accurate. Especially if there's multiple targets. Even like that, The reload trick kind of turns the Claymore in to a spray and pray weapon.

Cool beans, it just popped into my head that it might be easier if a little slower to fire after the melee instead of during. That's about the only thing that I could think of really that might help with things as they are. I'll never understand why console shooter games seem to have regressed as far as allowing you to customize button layout. You play any fighter and you can remap any button you want, but 9/10 shooters force you to choose among presets, none of which are likely to be exactly what you wanted. It'd certainly be easier if you could assign melee to pushing the right stick in.

Here's what I've experienced: I'll fire, start to reload and once I here the clicking sound I'll melee. The problem is that the melee animation has to finish completely before firing again. I've seen your videos and it looks like you're able to seemlessly transition from elbowing to firing the instant the weapon is ready to be fired again. Either that's not possible on the console or just really hard to pull off. Add in the slower turn speed on the console and less precision when aiming and you've got a very risky weapon without the means to overcome that risk without sacrificing your sanity and possibly your tv.

I get frantic, i press stuff, things die.

Sorry, but thats the best description i can give you. I dont really plan anything out, i just go on instinct and feel without paying much attention to why i do things.

The way you are doing it is the way I was asking if it would be easier.Three seperate actions, fire, melee, fire allowing you to get your finger back on the thumb stick while the melee animation finishes. The way I do it on the PC is to never let go of the fire button. That way when you hit the melee button it automatically fires at the same time, so it's only a two step move fire, melee. Doing it the hold the button method should actually be harder to aim with on a console since you would have to move your thumb off the thumb stick in order to hit the melee button. From what I understood console players could do it either way.

If you find yourself reaching a point where it seems like all that your arguments are achieving is banging your head into a brick wall, I suggest stepping away from the thread and moving on to other topics. For those of you who'd like to continue discussing how you use your shotguns, sorry, you'll have to start a new thread.

All this talk about the reload trick is entirely redundant.

Either you like the claymore or you don't. It has nothing to do with the reload trick. If there are players out the who feel forced to use the reload trick and hate it because it makes their thumbs bleed, I am sorry.

The claymore of the claymore was not in any way influenced by the existence of the reload trick.

Also reload trick is kind of a dumb name we should really call it reload canceling.

Yes on 360 you can't melée and aim at the same time, you can on pc. That is an advantage to pc.

But, how long does it take to tap B with your thumb and then start aiming again?

You may lose 75ms maybe? That is what I always do. I may not be firing as quickly as someone on a PC hammering buttons but it still works out fine.

Balancing for pc vs console is incredibly difficult, we do our best (enemies are tougher on pc than on xbox) but pc will always offer more precise controls, and better sequencing of attacks.
