Heh. If you thought that was a whopper, wait for the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

I was more floored by the Dalish storyline, especially the end of it.

The first moment that really totally floored me was the Battle at Ostagar. First time I saw it I was stunned by how well it was done, then I laughed because it looked like it crawled out of LoTR. The one that still amazes me is seeing Uldred go from "Oh just another Mage to beat up" to "Holy crap! Godzilla and Diablo ((from Diablo II)) had a kid and its huuuge!"

My first real wow moment was when Duncan killed the knight guy who didn't want to undertake the joining. My jaw literraly dropped. And the only words that came out of my mouth were: wow, Duncan is badass lol

My wow moment came when Lelianna finally decided to let the world know that she loved me with all her heart. I choose not to go with Morrigan since she was the obvious "femme fetalle" meant to entice you with her umm...jiggles and what not.
Besides Lelianna's story seemed to be the more interesting one.
Anyways, come camp time and she stood up and sang. (Its included with the soundtrack if you have the bonus stuff) I was blown away. I mean we all expected the usual tumble in the bedroll but ...then it hit me that she was a bard after all and what better way for a bard to declare to the world how she felt then in a song?

Yeah I loved that moment too, it was totally unexpected and made me sooo happy, i realised when I was done that I was grinning from ear to ear.

I forgot to mention when Alistair broke up with me because I made him King.

I was like Wow, he had been so easy to manipulate up until now but this is the one thing he put his foot down on. Bravo Alistair.,

My first real 'wow' moment was when Loghain told the armies to retreat. Hadn't really read anything about the game, and I did kind of suspect some kind of betrayal from him at first with the way he and the King were acting towards each other; but when I had commented to him about how immature the king seemed earlier, he had gone on about how the king was young and foolish, but still the King. Then he does that; and I was really just shocked. Up until then I had thought Howe was going to be the main villian besides the darkspawn (playing the human noble origin).

My second one was noticing how realistic most of the facial expressions looked, at pretty much all times the characters looked like they felt, if you know what I mean. When the characters were saying something they were unsure about, they looked conflicted; When Morrigan was making wise-cracks, she looked amused; etc. All the little details like that really impressed me.

There were really a TON of 'wow' moments all throughout the game. The ending (for the decisions that I preferred) was really bittersweet (with a lot more bitter than sweet), but overall I still enjoyed the whole package, and just because I wasn't satisfied with the ending doesn't mean I can't appreciate it.

Best game that has come out for a long time for me, because of moments like the ones described in this thread.

Sadly thats WHY I wssnt WOWed by the battle at Ostagar, it did look like something ripped outta LotR.
I also wasnt really WOWed by the fade because it reminded me so much of the spirit realm in Jade Empire.

Maybe its true, everything has been done before alreadyImage IPB

It wasn't a particular moment, but going back to the Circle of Magi after having completed the origin story and done some of the other major quests was a powerful experience. Seeing this place that was both home and prison and academy completely decimated by Uldred's machinations made my jaw drop. There were a lot of "what the hell?!?" moments, and by the time I got to the top of the tower, I was so set on handing Uldred's butt to him on a platter that I was almost shaking with rage.

Also, my mage and the Knight-Commander (who had DESPISED each other during the origin story and the aftermath thereof) managed a somewhat cordial conversation.  I was so confused, and I think she was too.

My first WOW moment came pretty early, actually. In the Human Noble Origin, in fact.

Going through the early bits, I became really attached to the entire setup BioWare was constructing. My mother and father, my brother his family, and cutie-pie Dairren who spent his last night with me. When Howe's men shot him, I was horrified and angry. As I ran around killing them, I found I was trying to hunt them all down. I felt a great sense of loss, seeing my "home" in such a state, and felt great anger for the death of so many people in my life. When it came time to leave my parents, I really didn't want to. I vowed to myself, as in, not my character, that I would kill Howe. :-)

My first WOW moment was when I left Redcliff before saving it. I really expected the game to just "wait" for me to do other stuff and come back to save it.

Nope, Redcliff was completely destroyed in a cutscene as I was travelling elsewhere.

there are alot of WOW moments, but the continue on the fact that morrigan is always written down as a b*tch

i just made her cry a bit last night i played.

i romanced her, romanced leliana afterwards, killed flemeth (her change in combat form was my first "ow crap" moment). and in orzammar i bought her the golden mirror.

afterwards in camp she spoke to me, that she never relized what a friend means, she never excpected to meet a person that would do something for her, and dont want anything in return.

she went so cute.. and stuff her whole "i am a sarcatic sexy ****"shell collapsed and.. damn she became cute....

love this game...

Its been a long time since any game in recent history (lets say the past 5-10 years) has come out and made us all feel really emotional about a game's world and characters. I mean I have played all the Halos, GTAs as well as other "big name" games but somehow even those games never felt the way DA:O made me feel. The horror you feel at times with the choices you have to make (made) the guilt, often times even seemingly "right and good" choices aren't really right or good at all in the long run. Of course there's the flip side of the balance when you find friendship, joy and even love in the midst of all that darkness you can't help at times to smile when those moments in the game comes up.

I do wonder now though, what will be in store for DA. Given how we can easily buy DLCs in this game, or hell yeah, expansions, I'd expect Bioware to be already busy completing at least a few more add-ons or better yet, a new campaign (so many options here...from political by-play to an epic search to re-introduce griffons into the world) or two.

I can't wait to be "wowed" more.

When I found out the blacksmith hanged himself because I simply forgot to grab Valena, I reloaded a save point from like 4 hours back to re-do it :P

Lots of great moments. I think the one that had the most impact on me was when Morrigan finally came clean with my PC, who had been romancing her, before heading off the redcliffe to muster the armies against the archdemon.

I think everything that involved Loghain was "WOW" for me. That voiceactor knew how to deliver lines with power for sure! The Landsmeet I really wanted to just join him because he's so ****ing badass.

My first wow moment, and there have been many, came the first time I used my brand new exploding badguy spell. WOW. That was so cool, watching the purple numbers fly up into the air, knowing that as soon as he hit zero he'd explode... and then realizing that I could speed up the process by attacking him!!! hahah

I unloaded on him with everything I had and forced the entire party to concentrate on him too!

When he blew he took two of my guys with him... but it was WONDERFUL. I've actually gotten the group exploding spell to work perfectly a few times and whether single or group... I crack up laughing when the red chunks and blood fly into the air!!

the best part i think of DA is that you can do a quest multiple ways and have different endings to that quest.reminds me allot of the Witcher where there is no right or wrong just shades of gray. seems Bio threw quit a bit of that gray into this; not everybody is what they seem at first. i also agree with the OP that the Conner quest was by far the best out of them all. the first time through i went to the mages, this time im going evil and decided to kill him, then the unexpected happened and i was floored, and the acting for that whole scene was simply incredible.

the werewolf questline was also very well done, even playing evil it was hard to listen to the spirit and then get the wolves to kill the elves knowing the curse would continue.

For me the best moment was watching the armies I gathered march at Denerim - it felt so bittersweet knowing a lot of them would die and my pc realising how much actually depended on her + Alistair delivering a rather motivating and comprehensive speech :) and my pc thinking "so he might make a good king after all"

Not long after Leliana sang for me, Wynne advised me I should send her away to keep her safe or something. I thought about it and decided it might be something my 'paladin-type' knight would do as he didn't want her to get hurt in the coming battle. So... i sent her away choosing my words carefully so that she would know i loved her and didn't want her to get hurt.

She left. And nobody mentioned it and she wasn't mentioned in the ending notes. Wynne never said anything about it again afterwards. I felt like a complete muppet!

But i hate going back to previous save games so I accepted it and carried on hoping she would either come back or i'd at least hear what happened to her after she left. Nope. Nothing. So i'm going to kill Wynne this play-through. I'll keep killing her until she's dead! D. E. D. Dead!

The story litteraly get's to your heart... 'Tis a great tale and how I just LOVE the dialog and the acting and... Yes... Overall the best story driven game ever told...

I did not find it verry hard to do evil things in Star Wars KOTOR... But this.... It hurts my HEAD to think of all the choices and what to do... To take the "evil" way or to take another turn!!!
