Jolee certainly disagrees with the Jedi. Trained his wife. Before she turned to the Dark Side and killed many people after trying to kill him.

In my opinion, Malak torturing Bastila was less about making her want to join him, but rather meant to break down her will. She was arrogant throughout the game, kept herself on a pedestal, and honestly didn't think she could fall and become like Malak and a force of evil.

I think he tortured her to break her ego, and show her she is powerless before him. Then he went on and provoked her into anger and lashing out, and made her feel more powerful. Make someone feel powerless, and then give them power...it's very tempting no matter who you are.

All that comes next is revealing how the Jedi aren't the perfect keepers of peace and justice in the galaxy. Jolee had the right of it, the Jedi are blind, even when trying to do the right thing. Take the Exile in the second game-No matter what the Exile says about their motivations for fighting and returning, it's always exile without any explanation.

Most Jedi who fall say it's because their masters were jealous, but many Jedi in the order severely underestimate any threat saying it's not match for the power of a true Jedi. Atris on Telos, despite being a librarian and historian, felt she could fight a war better than the Exile who had already fought in one, and excelled at it. All because she was a true Jedi. And she also refused to accept anything that didn't fit her opinion of what happened...many Jedi do that in fact.

The Jedi are arrogant, disconnected from the Galaxy, but they still try at least.

Sorry if I went off on a tangent there. But Bastila isn't the most intelligent Sith, as the Dark Side is more than just FORCE LIGHTENING AND KILL, KILL, KILL, DIE!!! It's also deception, lies, ambition to the point of dangerous to anyone outside of the individual, and incredibly subtle. The most successful Sith Lords are the subtle ones who weave in and out without drawing attention to themselves. Bastila doesn't do that.
