Yep; the difficulty does vary upon class and build. My Mage Wardens have a tough fight in the Circle tower with the Desire Demon and charmed Templar, but it is easier with Warriors and Rogues. And Gaxkang is not as tough post-Mana Clash, or with 2H bashing him senseless. But my archers hate that Mass Pull from him and his ilk.

Actually, how did people find the Brecilian Forest Revenants for the Juggernaut Armor? I struggled as a mage, running around until my mana recharged

Those were indeed difficult in my first playthrough as a mage. With my 2h warrior or my rogue, not a problem.

I always let the pride demon go (except for once by mistake)so I wouldn't know. Archers are an annoying class to play with; even with melee archer.

I got a bit of a shock when it was immune to most of my spells, I actually ended up wielding a sword while waiting for mana to recharge and this was before my AW spec.

Ser Cauthrian! My game was bugged in that blood magic wouldnt activate so I almost always got pwned before i could hit blood wound. Plus, the almost seamless stuns on my chars was annoying. Harvester + Orange mobs was very hard too, but I think ser cauthrien wins overall.

The desire demon/ possessed templar fight can be annoying(unless you are running a 2h warrior), and uldred can be really annoying since he knocks you back then casts CP on you. Never really found Gax to be all that hard either just move Leliana and Morrigan out of melee range and tank him sort of in the doorway

The High Dragon isn't that hard, it only takes time and the right tactic.. I expected the Archdemon to be harder.

The Archdemon just flew around while I casted AoE spells for him to fly into.

Well no fight is difficult with the right tactics, so obviously that goes for the high dragon as well. I think it's fair to say that the fights involving the most tactics to survive are probably the most difficult. For me, these fights weren't even the actual bossfights.

And yes the Archdemon's archenemy is AoE. On normal mode you can take him from through all of phase 2 with one Storm of the Century. Probably takes less to be honest, but I tend to go for overkill if I can :)

I was very surprised. I cast it and suddenly the fight was almost over. Wasn't too experienced at the game back then, so I expected a lot more.

Use a mage and slam down paralysis explosion. Neither Glyph requires line of sight :D

I always thought the High Dragon was one tough SOB.

It is. Just because you can beat it easily using the right tactics, it doesn't mean it's not one of the toughest enemies in the game.

You're right, I guess. I agree that some of the toughest fights are not boss-fights though..

Lol, I hadn't discovered tactics by then and to be honest on the lower difficulties tactics are sort of obsolete.

Harvester in general with the boss level skeleton's as possibilities makes it my vote. Especially if you play on hard < shudders > My record is 5 of the hard skeletons and the boss...with just me left alive in the party. You can say I did not live.

Hmmmm what class did you play? Did you import a character? I find that this battle relies heavily on outside factors.

I didn't find the harvester tough at all (on normal difficulty) and with no other potions than lyrium.
I suppose it's also a matter of placement as was said before.
For example in golems of amgarrak in the blue world when all those sentinel mages show up on all four corners surrounding you , if you just stand there and fight them, the battle is nearly impossible.
If you retract and go round the corner and make them come after you and be closer to eachother the battle is still hard but can be won.

Yeah, I heard a lot of people found that hard, and I was dreading it, and then when I was fighting the Harvester I realised that I hadn't even noticed the fight, and treated it like any other. The Battlemage's Swirling Chaos move is great for tight spaces Image IPB

I play 2hd war, dual wield rogue, and mage...well, several but most not updating/uploading.  I mported. As I said it was mostly just unlucky on the fight.

The battle does indeed rely a lot on whether you import or not and WHAT you import. For my non-imported mage, it was nearly impossible on Hard. I finished it with a non-imported rogue a lot easier, but still it would have helped to have imported some potions and just a better character.

I always had the most trouble with the Blood Mage Leader at the end of the hidden base in Denerim. He'd nuke my guys with Chain Lightning, I'd have no stamina and then I'd be dead.

So the last two playthroughs I just kicked his ass with Mana Clash.

On the subject of tough monsters, I am now curious. Has anyone waited until after the Landsmeet when some areas "reset" and after reaching level 22+ to fight Flemeth who will be level 22 instead of her usual level 15?

And I don't know if Haven resets after the Landsmeet too, but if it does, has any one ever fought a level 22 High Dragon?

I assume that the High Dragon in Awakening is higher than 22, but no I always fight the dragons pretty early, have you tried fighting them after the Landsmeet?
