Where's the console patch? This is ridiculous, what the hell are MS and Sony waiting for?
Seriously, after all this mess I'll think twice before buying any other Bioware DLC on day one. I'll wait to see the comments before doing anything.
I agree, they sure are taking their sweet ass time certifying the console patches. I just want to finish my canon save with one last play through of an unbugged witch hunt and after that its the wait until DA2.

I am terribly sorry, this is off topic and random to ask. To prevent future stupidity, I must inquire: What does canon mean? Is it similar to metagaming?
Canon
Briefly it's the official/real version of events in a fictional work when there is one or more contradictory accounts, usually from more than one author type source. Star Trek, Star Wars etc have canon. Dragon Age does not.

I tend to somewhat play like that. Somewhat.. I play canon as to who lives, which armies are recruited (assuming a good char is canon). But my playstyle is anything EXCEPT canon.
Anyway, thanks guys

I understand now, I believe - so canon is "as close to what Bioware wants as possible"?

No, because there is NO DRAGON AGE CANON.

No, your canon character is as close to what you want as possible (your ideal character). Bioware has put no expectations forth at all.Bahlgan wrote...

Well if DAModder is supposed to handle .zip files as well as .dazip files then why all the hassle about renaming the .zip.
But.....that was the first thing i tried after downloading. I went straight to DAModder to install and it told me....yes it told me....DAO_PRC_STR_1.1.zip is not a dazip file. No it must be an out of this world file.
So i tried with the updater and that couldn't even find it.
What a mess....come on, get that standalone version out.
That's odd, because when I downloaded it, it already had tghe DAZip extension. It is also odd that your modder won't open it. Try downloading it again.

You did rename to "DAO_PRC_STR_1.1.dazip", right?
DAModder will read it either way. Plus a DAZip isn't an actual format - it's just a renamed Zip to start with (look at the header - 504B0304).
Actually, DA was just added to the extension by Bioware. It is obvious it stands for Dragon Age. An extension can be any alphabet one pleases who does their own programming. Typically it is an acronym or has a meaning relevant to the program name.

(1) (n) canon (a collection of books accepted as holy scripture especially the books of the Bible recognized by any Christian church as genuine and inspired)
(2) (n) canon (a rule or especially body of rules or principles generally established as valid and fundamental in a field or art or philosophy) "the neoclassical canon"; "canons of polite society"
So for our purposes those "genuine works" are what the writers/developers put into the game. (Despite their protestations, there are some canon elements within DA. "Dwarves can't do magic", for example.) The most common use of the term in CRPGs is to support a contention that "such-and-such will/must/can't happen" because of things that have were done/stated earlier in the series.
Some very interesting discussions have arisen in other story-lines when there were differences between what is "canon" in the CRPG instance vs.the novel or film instances.
In DA, saying "the DR isn't canon" simply means that later games will not have the (your) Warden's having performed/allowed the DR as a required element for the storyline to make sense. The exact same "curent events" might be in the game, but some other explanation will be provided.
Saying "There is NO canon in DA!" on the other hand, implies that the writers feel free to make radical changes in the "nature of things" to suit their current dramatic needs.
They are declaring that they will not be bound by what has come before, even if they were responsible for it!

Yeah, but the patches are ready.
BW has already made the patches, tested and then sent them to MS and Sony. So why they're not available yet is beyond me. I'm not asking for refunds or something like that, but hell, this sucks so much.
At least they repaired the bug. It was the least they could do, after taking our money in exchange for a half-baked and bugged DLC.

Why are you mad at Bioware? It's Micro$oft and $ony who are holding up the patch to their respective consoles because they're so a N al about what goes on them. In fact, some bug fixes were left out of the 1.04 patch for EVERY platform because the consoles couldn't contain them.
I'm not mad at BW, I said in an earlier post that the delay of the patch isn't BW's fault.
Well, maybe a little mad, because they had enough time to test it properly, before releasing it to the public. But, oh well...

No? Last time I checked, wasn't it preferred by Bioware that Loghain and the Architect are both dead by the time the second Dragon Age begins? I thought Bioware mentioned that the Architect would NOT be in DA2. Isn't that canon to say the least?
