A. IF the DLC is already downloaded and saved on your PC:KennethAFTopp wrote...
How exactly do I rename the .Zip file into a Dazip again?
1. Use "Windows Explorer" (or "My Computer") to go to the folder where it's saved.
2. Right-click on it, and select "Rename" from the pop-up menu.
3. Change the file extension from ".zip", to ".dazip".
4. ""Enter" to save the change.
IF you've set Windows to "Hide extensions for known file types", (which you'll know because you don't see ".zip" OR ".dazip" after the filename) then before doing Step 2, above:
a. Select the "Tools" tab at the top.
b. Select "Vew" from the drop-down menu.
c. UN-Check the "Hide extensions for known known file types" option.
d. (Optional) After renaming the DLC, repeat a-thru-d, but RE-Check the option.
B. IF the DLC is NOT yet downloaded, then when you do, simply change to the (correct) ".dazip" extension in the "Save As" filename box.

A DLC that is been torn to pieces in reviews and on the forums and deservedly so but to top it off it doesnt even work properly.
You can only laugh.
At this stage Im not even going to bother trying to fiddle for hours with faulty patches to get this working its not worth all the hassle.
Shame that DAO fizzled out so poorly the game deserved more.( Bit of an Arl Howe about it)
Agreed if they only got the creative team that did lair of the Shadowbroker to do the DLC the Witch Hunt we would be praising it not chopping it to pieces. lol
It seems ME2 has all the great creative teams for working on DLC'S and DAO got the sloppy seconds.

Thats quite ironic seeing as all the original mass effect DLC sucked **** they got first pick for ME2 this time i guess but guys comeon the DLC for Dragon age isn't that bad i myself love all the DLC and the expaansion to death i'm glad to have completed my DAO DLC collection with Witch hunt whihc was also a great DLC thanks bioware and thanks for getting the patches made can't wait to finish my (possibly last) playthrough (for a while) and do Awakeneing and witch hunt.

The console versions for the patch are still in testing. We will update you once we have more information on that as well.

You can tell DAO wasn't written to have DLC plugged in - heck the stupid save/create a new character in each DLC says a lot about that - whereas ME2 was. I think the technical limitations have hindered a lot of what the DLC's can be. I expect that DA2 will be built ground up for DLC and it should get a lot better.

Can't say anything about ME, base game or DLC. I have it, but haven't played it because...
Dragon Age is taking all my time.
Between multiple playthroughs with different PCs, in all the DLCs (except "The DLC Which Must Not Be Named", of course) waaaaay too many mods, and waaaaay too many forums (including the Varric thread on the DA2 forum!) I think DA has been an epic win.
True, I had the epic fail of 1.03 causing constant CtDs on my rig. And if it weren't for The Community, I would not have been able to contiune to play. And yes, BioWare/EA should have provided the tech support that I ended up getting despite their non-help. But in part because of that problem, and the community I found as a result, I've enjoyed the ride even more!
I undertand that console players are in a very different position. Any problems they have must wait on a wholes series of steps for the "official" fix, which may not happen at all. But that's just more reason I play on a PC!

With all of that being said, I still bought the Expansion and the DLC's and waited with bated breath for Bug Releases, so the various game elements could be played. Many say they will not buy any further DLC's and maybe not DAO 2. To that I say, "Yeah Right"! I would guess that 98% or higher will purchase any and all future releases for the DAO line. Why? Simple, there is NO other game like DAO or ME 2 to be played and there is nothing on the horizon as well, BioWare/EA has a lock down on this arena, and until something comparable comes along they will continue to do so. Kinda goes hand in hand with the "One Trick Pony" theory and I totally agree.
So complain, gripe, protest, etc.. all we may, we are stuck with our hands tied behind our backs until some competition hits the streets. Till than I'll be buying everything they put out and Hopefully, they have learned much from the issues presented this year and will ensure it does not repeat itself down the road. We hope and we wait... ;~)

Many reports of this problem (and I already confirmed I encountered it personally, but since I had already successfully installed the ".dazip" version it's not really an issue for me.)Avissel wrote...
Eh. I couldn't install the patch, because the installer couldn't patch DAO to 1.4, even though I already applied that patch myself.

Not sure if there's any common thread to who gets affected.
Are you on Win7? On you on a 64-bit OS? Are you on a multi-core system? (I answer "Yes" to all of those.)

I too hope that future DA releases are more bug-proof. At least PC gamers get the good of the community making their own brilliant fixes, but we console players are definitely on the hard side, and now with all this talk about whether or not DA2 will have a toolset just makes me more anxious ;(
