IT IS DONE. THE MONEY HAS BEEN RAISED. NOW ALL TO DO IS SIT BACK AND WATCH AS IT UNFOLDS. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED TO THE CAUSE. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~Thanks to your support, $1500 have already been raised! Keep it up!~~
Message from Rana:
" I have at least 3 different people interested in helping including Holly Conrad (wahoo) so it might end up being some what a trial and error process.. I am expecting to "go big or go home" if you get my drift.. I am not willing to half **** this! I'd love to do appearances and photoshoots as much as I can."
"Maybe I'll do Morinth next if this goes over well!"
You heard that right! Our favorite Cosplayer, Holly Conrad, is going to help Rana out! And you can hear the determination of how close this is to becoming a reality. She might even do Morinth if this goes out well! People, I humbly ask you to get all you can and fund this project! For Samara! For Rana! For the Children suffering Cancer. For our communal love of MASS EFFECT!!! <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Many people (including myself) loved the Miranda and Jack cosplay. But, even though the costumes were really good, it wasn't Yvonne Strotski in the suit. :(

Now imagine if there was a Samara cosplay. I'd doubt they'd be many people able to fit her role well. Except...Rana! The model Samara was based on!

She is going on an expedition to raise money for the cosplay, which will need all our help (considering the high expenses). Would you like to see it? I certainly would. Check out this link if you want to help.

In Rana's own words:

"I am a model and an actress in Los Angeles, CA and happen to get an amazing gig being the face of Samara and Morinth for the video game Mass Effect 2 by BioWare. I am a huge gaming fan and so are all of my friends! So I want to Cosplay Samara! I am also a cancer survivor and a volunteer for a camp for cancer kids it would be amazing to show them that they can do anything they put their mind to! And this wouldn't be the first time I've been bald! :)

I think it would be an amazing thing to see me all made up as Samara since everything was digitally done! Samara in the flesh would be fun for all!"

Sweet, I think I will donate since there is a good cause involved with the fact that she is a cancer survivor herself and will be doing this to show the children she helps out that anything is possible if they put their mind to it.

Also, seeing Samara cosplayed by the model she was based on would be totally badass and hot...and the kids are important too!

A cosplay by the actual face of Samara? Epic win.

For those who aren't sure if this is legit, here is the model's modeling page which links to her Facebook page which talks all about it.

Yes it does! Now all we need is Mark Vanderloo and Seth Green (he looks like Joker, doesn't he?) and it could be the coolest way to launch ME3!

It such a great idea!! I hope more of the models decide to do this. Especially Mark Vanderloo.

Looks like everyone's favorite Renegade Shep cosplayer Holly Conrad is offering up her support in her own way, too. :wizard:

Finally got around to donating myself. Rather than a picture of the model next to a picture of Samara, would have so loved a picture of the model as Samara. :)

I'm wondering how she's going to emulate Samara's legendary bustline. Rana may have been the face of Samara, but she was most certianly not the body. I wish her luck, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing the end result!

This should be awesome.

Hopefully she won't look like Na'vi from Avatar. Oh God how much that movie was generic.

Samara's face is very distinctive, even more so than the rest of her body.  I think the spectacle would be worth it, just to see Samara in the flesh.

Maybe they'll use the costume to fill out Samara's body?

Oh I agree. Maybe they'll make a molded-latex chestplate to represent Samara's boobage. They simply can't do a B-cup Samara, that just would strain credibility.

I'm actually most concerned about the model's ears. How are they going to flatten them back enough to simulate the asari's lack of human-like outer ears? How do other asari cosplayers do it?

A woman cosplayed Samara at a convention in Australia.   Here's a picture.  The prosthesis flattened her ears against her head.

The donations aren't for the costume, they're for the plastic surgery needed.

I kid.  Best of luck to Rana in this!

She said she'd go bald for it, but wouldn't a bald cap work just as well?

I guess it depends upon how her hair would affect the look of the head-tentacles prop prosthesis.
