I'm wondering how she's going to emulate Samara's legendary bustline. Rana may have been the face of Samara, but she was most certianly not the body. I wish her luck, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing the end result!
Theres actually a cosplayer who did a huge latex bust for a "Babe Sapien" costume. I would hope they do this technique. She got a LOT of compliments on how nice the rack was xD
Also, the latex headpiece pretty much keeps the ears pressed to the head as long as you seal the headpiece properly. Unfortunately, its very hard to hear unless you punch holes or slits into the latex. She could also spirit gum her ears to her bald cap/scalp but that would be kind of painful...

I can see the headpiece being an issue with making the costume more than anything else. I mean, a rubber cap could be made(like Alan rickman as Dr. Lazarus in Galaxy Quest) could be made, and it would do the job, but how realistic could it look?
There's that person who cosplayed Liara, and the prop prosthesis she wore looked pretty convincing. The woman who cosplayed Samara also made it look good. I think it's a matter of making it blend with the head and getting the skin color to match just right.

She should really create a video documentary of every trial and error that goes into making a kickass costume.
I really appreciated the videos Holly Conrad released about the costume-making process.

I remember Virginia Hey returning to Farscape for an episode after she had left and regrown her hair. The bald cap she used then just didn't give the proper effect that her shaved head did. Though she didn't cover her head with a bunch of tentacles, now that I think about it...
Oh I remeber that well. Zhaan looked terrible with the bald cap so kudos to Hey for dedicating herself to two and half seasons of no hair!
I can't wait to see the pictures of this Samara cosplay! With the money donated and having the exact face of Samara, it should look real professional.

The site uses Paypal so I'm not sure if a fake donation could even be made. Could be that they raised funds from a lot of different people and paid it all in one lump sum, I guess.

Possibly, though I don't know why Bioware would be anonymous about it. The face of Samara cosplaying for a good cause? PR heaven, slap that all over Bioware and give themselves a pat on the back.Flying-Jew wrote...
It might be Bioware?
Don't know why Bioware hasn't said much about it, unless they're waiting for there to actually be a Samara costume to show. Don't know how long it will take Rana to get some good results to show us.
I do know Bioware is aware of her efforts, at least.

I've more or less co-orchestrated the efforts with Rana (exciting, exciting!). We've been in contact since she had the initial idea, and she knows the contributer.
She's still accepting donations, as she intends to cosplay Morinth as well if she raises enough. I'm not sure when she intends to begin work on this, but her original intentions were to make a debut at Comic-Con 2011, which is obviously still quite a way off.
Also, I'm new to the forums, so hello! I'm sure I'll find an introduction thread and make a more proper introduction for myself there.

I'm extremely excited for this, and she's already sent me an autograph in the mail ;D She's a really cool person, and it's awesome to see people who are willing to reach out and get involved with their fans! She made an account here on the forums, that was actually the first thing she messaged me about, but I don't know if she's done any posting.
