Can we possibly get some of the softer sides of women in the game too?

I think he meant like the one in the concept art.

Historically inaccurate as it may be.

And incredibly fancy for a poor City Elf. If Anora or the PC were to wear a wedding dress, I'd imagine they would have something like that, minus the very improper slit in the side. ;)

The concept art makes me think that something it's supposed to give you an idea of what the origin is, rather than what you're going to wear. The HN noble concept art has a very proud-looking male with a billowing cloak, cuz he's rich and fancy. Not necessarily because I'm going to get a cloak.

I love the way you think. It makes my heart skip beats.

As for cutting things could always go the route of ME2, multiple discs.

I think we got plenty of that... Morrigan's obession with jewelry, Leliana's shoe fetish... EVEN SHALE LIKED SHINY THINGS! SHALE!!!

But I did like the femininity, but I see what your saying there wasn't much of an option to be feminine as the warden (unless you were a mage)

I wish the heavy armors weren't so... boxy

Not sure the Alienage girls would want my city elf's wedding dress back... it's got Archdemon blood all over it. A bit icky, honestly.

Were you thinking you might marry the Archdemon when you ended up killing it?  Or perhaps you had the kinky idea of actually getting marred over the Archdemon's corpse?

While I was hoping for a proper wedding dress (we needed one for the City Elf Origin, as well), the fact remains that every outfit is an entirely new model. We were already cutting unique models for things that were really important-- never mind creating new ones for comparatively frivolous stuff like fancy dresses and rings on fingers.

Small point, but I'm not sure what a "proper wedding dress" would look like for a poor City Elf in a medieval setting. Queen Victoria was the one who actually started the tradition of brides wearing white, and up until then and for a long period after, women just wore their nicest dress. My grandmother was married in 1940 or '41 and wore a blue knee-length dress.

If the dress in the CE origin is the only dress the CE owns, then I think it's actually just fine for the wedding. I can't imagine Anora wearing a white dress with a train and veil for her wedding to Cailan, nor can I imagine the PC wearing something similar if she married Alistair. Probably just noble clothes with fancier textures.

I think he meant like the one in the concept art.

I do love that concept art. It was the main inspiration for my CE playthrough, and I must admit I was a little sad to see they were unable to develop a dress that closer matched the one seen there. However I just presumed it was too frivulous to spend time on in the end, much like DG seems to suggest.

Hoping they snuck in more frivilous stuff into DA2. =] Although not at the expense of the important stuff of course, like Varric's portable recliner and Nutella supply chest.

Nah, it just makes for an epic and funny scene, really, killing the Archdemon in your pretty little dress.Posted Image I did it for the lulz.

I have read at least one or two other folks doing the same with their CEF Wardens. So, I'm not the only freak here, it seems. Posted Image

I'm a girl gamer, but I'm not one for soft side of things. That occurs in real life.

if you want marriage, kids, and fancy dresses, play Sims.

If you want to kick ass, play Dragon Age.

I personally like games with despair, drama, heartbreak... makes things a little more interesting.

Happiness gets boring after a while

Both in their own time.  Rowan put on a red dress.

Lotta good it did her, but still.

'Course if the female models are really going to be as boobefied as the art suggests, I'm sticking to plate armor.

You would think with the increase in female heroes in pop culture, gaming companies would have more female heroes in games.

True, even Rowan wore dress. Well, I suppose if there were leisure situations, maybe having a dress wouldn't be horrible for our characters - not that I'd ever wear a dress IRL (I prefer jeans). What can I say, I'm an eternal tomboy. :P

My femhawke will be a ruthless, backstabbing cutthroat. She'll pummel the first chick she sees in a dress and berate any such feminine qualities she comes across.

And It will be glorious.

My female City Elf wore her wedding dress all the time.

Well, except maybe in a few instances where she was naked.

What? I mean the sacred ashes gauntlet, of course.

Well, I suppose if there's any sort of 'celebration' scene like at the end of DA:O it would be nice if Hawke was wearing fancy clothes. It felt weird at the end of DA:O when everyone else had new clothes and I was still in my armor.

It felt like some sort of weird political mind screw thing Queen Anora was pulling on me... 'You think the Hero of Ferelden is cooler than me? Ha! Look at what she's wearing!'

Knowing what life's like for the Denerim elves, I'm going to bet that the female CE doesn't actually own that dress. It was probably the only nice dress in the entire alienage. They passed it around. If you were good and Valendrian liked you, and you got married, you got to wear the nice dress.

You took that dress out of the alienage when you went to Ostagar, didn't you? Now the girl-elves in Denerim have no wedding dress. You monster.

Pfft....

After the killing my female CE made ending the blight, she acquired (don't ask where) a fancy new dress and left it in her father's care.  Didn't she tell you?

As for softer sides in general... I dunno, my CE's "softer side" demanded a bloody, murderous rampage across Ferelden... The whole quell a blight, slay the archdemon, thing was more or less an afterthought.

I took the dress, wore it, conned drunk elves out of their bits, and destroyed the dress and proceded to my CE wedding nude thanks to mods.

My CE was male ;)

Well when I left the alienage, the girl-elves stole Soris' wedding clothes (that had magically converted into a dress when I put them on) from my inventory, so they still got a nice dress to wear.

Meh, it was covered in blood and ruined anyway. I bought them new dresses after I became the hero of Ferelden and Arlessa of Amaranthine.

This isn't really a dress up game or wedding sim, though...

But it IS a roleplaying game.

Edit P.S. I would like to hear how many kept the Cousland sword and shield.  I know I did, even though I don't play S & S warriors.  My male character wore Morrigan's ring.  I think what the OP was missing was something equippable from the other LIs?  Mods can do wondrous things.

True, however when it comes down to it, it isn't a game about dresses and equippable rings that physically show up on the characters hands. If the devs add it, by all means. If it is so important you could just roleplay that you character is wearing that stuff on her downtime (and I doubt there won't be any kind of dresses or regular clothing at all, there are NPCs after all). If it comes down to them deciding that creating nice armor and some more character specific clothing like Morrigans is more important, well, it's no big loss at all IMO. There are other ways the game could show the "softer" side, not all females who consider themselves feminine need to wear a dress and a ring all the time.
