"Character creators" and "inventory managers" like in NWN, KOTOR, etc...

...and play with that character quickly and easily?
I can't seem to find any such mod for DA...
Is it not possible to make such a mod?
Based on what I could find with 'Search,' (people wanting to modify and/or add items, change character stats, etc), it seems it would be a very poplular mod.
I'm assuming BW made DA so it couldn't be done this time like in their past RPG's?

Surprising no such mod program exists.

I've been modding KOTOR for years and I'm not aware of anything for it like what you are talking about.
There's a version of it for both KOTOR and KOTOR 2, and it's been around forever. It's a 'Save Game editor,' but the effect is exactly the same as a 'character builder' as I described above.
You can edit any stat of a character, give it any item, etc. at any time.
So you can start a game, and immediately after the opening cutscenes, make them however you want. (due to classes and leveling, you ocassionally have to tweak as you level up)
For example, I made a Bounty Hunter for KOTOR 2: dual mando pistols, wrist rockets and darts, and wrist-mounted flamethrower. Basically, everything but a jetpack.

To be honest, I'm don't know how useful such a mod would be for Dragon Age anyway. Enemies scale with your level, and there aren't quite the same "epic items" that you get in games like NWN1/2 - any levelling up would only be done to get people access to certain abilities earlier in the game, but these aren't terribly necessary for the most part. Additionally, it's not possible to "port" characters from one mod to another (at least not for player made modules yet) so any such mod would have to be an add-on to the mod that was being created.
Yeah, I forgot about enemy leveling...
Since I've played every class numerous times, there's not much else for me to do.
I feel like playing a few OP hero play-throughs right from the start. Basically, I'd like to start where we end up; fully upgraded, with all the best powers and equipment.
Then again, the Awakening powers/abilities aren't integrated into Origins (like they were in NWN expansions), so that's another strike against playing a fully-upgraded hero unit through the entire game.

Lol. A save editor is just that - a save editor. It's nothing like a "character builder".
Yes it is. And it does exactly the same thing.

I'm well versed in what it is and what it does. You may want to even consider the possibility I've been using it longer than you have. But suit yourself. I'm not really interested in an endless debate over semantics.
I agree -- regardless of what it's called -- character creator, savegame editor, whatever, that's the type of program I'd like to see; one that can:
-- add and/or alter stats, skills, abilities, and powers
-- add any item to one's inventory
-- do this at the beginning, before gameplay occurs
Unfortunately, it seems no such thing exists for DA.

There doesn't need to be for two reasons. First, DA saves are just GFF files, so they can be edited in the toolset/standalone GFF editor. Second, there's a toolset. You can create all the items and such that you want and have them load directly into the user's directory when they load the game. Or you could create an area in the SP campaign that gives bonus XP, items, etc.
The DA toolset is too complicated for me to just jump in and do what you describe, and I don't have the time (or desire) to learn to do it properly.
Compare that to both the NWN and KOTOR programs where a complete novice can get their desired result in literally minutes.
So apparently, such a program for DA would be helpful for many. Afterall, look at all the other 'simpler' mods that folks took the time and effort to make and put out there. If those deserved to be made, and are downloaded thousands of times each, I'm sure a creator/editor, which would be far more functional, certainly is too.
