first of all let me start with saying that ive played through ME2 and loved it now i want to play ME1 and import my very own shepard into 2, however upon instalation of the game i get a authentication error. every time i input the key i get:

error mass effect ™_code.exe

and thats it no error code or anything, ive looked for hours and havnt found anything, it makes me a very sad panda. im running Vista and ive tried running it in compatibility mode to see if that was the issue however i got no results from that. i also tried cutting/pasting the authentication file from ME2  since it obviously worked on my computer and just renamed it for ME1 and that got me no where. the file is called MassEffect ™_code.exe.

im at a breaking point i really am stumped i know that its this ME ™ exe file however i cant find anywhere to DL and install a working one. other than that the rest of the instalation goes over smoothly again that file is the only one giving me issues.

I would generally recommend talking to EA Support for activation problems. Bioware doesn't come in here, and the fans who hang out around here won't know much about the inner workings of proprietary DRM like this.

If you have a disc copy and are okay with substituting a CD check for activation, you might want to check this out.
