Rumor (and their video) has it that when gog launches the not-in-beta-anymore version of their service, BG will be there (I hope for BG II+ToB as well)

I'll be disappointed if it doesn't happen after all the hype themselves created but if it indeed happens, I think I'm buying BG saga for the 3rd time:D.

Am i missing something? I thought gog was down? Or is that just a publicitystunt and are they upgrading their site?

It seems to be a publicity stunt. I have two copies of BG1 so a digital version won't help me much, but it will handy if I ever want a backup of BG2+ToB. The lack of DRM makes it tempting too. This is great for anyone having trouble locating these games locally. :) With any luck they will release PS:T too.

I sure hope you guys are right. I got a ton of great games from gog. Total Annihilation, Gabriel Knight, the entire Might&Magic series...i know they were trying to get Baldurs Gate:SoA, PS:T and System Shock 2. Was really looking forward to that since my copies are badly scratched:P

I hate discs so I might have to bite even though I've yet to play BG for more than an hour. Steam would be much better though. My only experience with GOG was dreadful.

I use steam allot  as well but my experience with Steam + older games is a little awkward. Specifically for BG I'd prefer to see it on GoG, of course best route is to see on both. Two distribution channels == price competition == win for the customer.

Oh man, if the BG games were released as digital copies I would snatch them up in a heartbeat. Even though my hard copies have been working fine for the past ten years, I would really prefer to leave my CDs at home rather than carry them around in my laptop and risk losing them, damaging them, etc...

It's now official. Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga is making it to GoG. That's the compiled re-release that came out a few years back. It's Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast. The asking price is $9.99 for the game, two manuals, wallpapers, soundtrack, artwork, ect. Basically what came with the packaged version and a bunch of extras. It will also work on Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

Just BGI and TotSC? I was really hoping for digital copies of BG2 and ToB, since those are my favorites. But I might end up picking this one up anyways.

It's likely that they will eventually get BG2 and ToB. But who knows. All depends on how their agreements are with black isle / bioware / interplay.

Give them time. They said this is only the beginning. I'm betting BG2 and ToB are in the queue.

Pretty awesome, and I was just wondering on what needless stuff I'll blow my credit this month

Also, D&D games are a big deal, they want to give em to us in doses, not all at once. After all, we deserve a treatment for proper addicts :D

Nice thing is that when people say they damaged their disks and where can you get a replacement easy we can tell them GoG. No more disks for those that don't want 'em.

Hum, I'm tempted to buy this..suppose it'd be 3rd time I buy BG I/TOTSC.

In case there is somebody here yet to buy this masterpiece..well, BUY IT! With half a dozen well chosen mods BGI transforms into one of the best RPGs you are likely to play, ever!

...Considering the sheer quality of those mods and how their core pieces require both BG I and II  installed, it would have been a tactful move from GOG to release entire saga at one go. I wonder if there will be complications when trying to fix a peaceful marriage between Tutu+Gog's BGI+Cd versions of Shadows Of Amn&TOB.

Never tried gog, yet. I assume all games there are the English version? I would LOVE to get my hands on BG2+ToB in English. Oh, and not needing to fetch the CDs everytime I want to kill some Mind Flayers would be great to.

All releases  are DRM free English versions. Games are always fully patched. Official expansions,in case such exist, are always included.  Games released are always optimized and tweaked  with modern operating systems in mind.

GOG is very impressive and surprisingly bulls**t free service. In Gog, you don't have to buy vague " points" that only exist to screw you over like EA and online stores of various consoles force you to do. Instead, everything always costs either 6 or 10 dollars. If you use Euro or any other currency, the price tag  is accurately converted. Sadly we live in a world where this too, is a feature online shopper needs to be grateful of. Certainly after encountering Steam's "hehe, we converted the 19 dollars pricetag to 19E since err..it is more simple to consumers that way!  kthx:D P.S I don't use lube.."  - approach.

Never experienced any difficulties with reliability of the site or download service.
.....Except now:p They are in process of revamping their service so the  login servers and site as a whole is acting up.

I downloaded it. No more CD swapping is reason alone to buy. Now if we can just get BGII + Bhaal, Icewind Dale I & II, Plansecape Torment.....

If you buy it, then for whatever reason your computer dies or whatever... can you redownload it for free? Or to you have to pay $10 again?

Just wondering, never used GoG before.

I just bought it today. I missed out on this game the first time, because I didn't really turn into a real gamer geek until later in high school/college..

Can anyone confirm whether the GOG version works with mods yet? (Obviously not Tutu, that'll have to wait until BG2 gets released as well.)
