Problem:

I have had many instances when using the curve editor to manipulate animation weight,(could be a smile anim, or anything really) all of a sudden losing an actors position completely, resulting in all keyed positions thorughout the cutscene to be completely off.

Most of the time undoing the curve editor change has not solved the problem but rather resorting to reloading a save was my only solution. Because of this I always saved before making any kinds of curve editor manipulations.

I have found a way to "repair" this error.

When this happens, I look for any animation *transition* (mostly those that involve GAD or positioning) anywhere  near the animation which I used the curve editor, deleted the transition and set a new one.

Result:
Actor returns to place. :wizard:

Why? The only reason I can come up with is perhaps the curve editor somehow has an internal effect on other transitions within the program. Making a new transition seems to reset it. That's just a guess.

At least now I don't have to fear using the curve editor any longer.

Thought I would share this info.

Whenever this has happened to me, I found that simply toggling "Play GAD" of any Play Animation action to the opposite of its current setting and back again solved it. Bit of an annoyance and stumped me for a while when it first happened.

Interesting! Based on what you're saying, it seems *something* needs to be reset in order to return to the previous state.

If it's not to much to ask, can you make a vid tutorial on this? I think it will help people visually understand how to do this. :)

I have yet to try this myself.

Do you mean a tutorial on using the curve editor?

Edit: If you are talking about a curve editor tutorial I could do that. Though you might have to help me with regards to the appropriate screen/voice capture programs for me to make one, since you already have experience in that :D

To contribute a partial different experience:

I have just run quite often into this problem. But only with GAD animations and the actor lost only the last / and prelast position after closing the curve editor. Saving and forcing a refresh (F5) was all what was necessary to return the actor to the position.
