Should make most decisions easier, though make the world less safe for people that engage in homosexual activity...

This one recalls a tribe in which becoming a man involved a ceremony where you swallowed a man's seed in order to fill yourself with masculine essence. They also trampled on red flower petals to cut themselves off from their mother's feminine influence.

I love how you like to identify yourself with your character, therefore don't want to be gay, yet have no problem playing not only a woman, but a fish taco-munchin' female.nordrian wrote...
I'm going to play straight or lesbian if I play a female char (sorry, as a straight man, I can't even force myself romancing with another man, even in a game lol, and I have played role play games(table ones) for now 8 years, if I was forced to, I could manage to play it, but that's just not my thing, since I like to identify myself with my character.
I don't know wheter that's hilarious or disturbing.

On a slightly off-topic note, back in the day, before parchment and writing, people had sex for fun, often with those of the same sex. The governments couldn't say no because the people would get bored and riot and it's likely that the governments also did it.

I'm not sure what's trying to be said here. The relationship was between two Orlesians, but it was recognized as "that kind of relationship" by a Fereldan. And for all we know they could have been bisexual, so I'm still confused about the issue here.
Prior to the modern world, people didn't identify as gay or homosexual. People might have had relations with members of the same-sex, even exclusively, but this wasn't an orientation. In many cultures, sexual identity was built around active/passive or masculine/feminine, which is why you don’t have as much talk about or restrictions on female same-sex activity as for many that literally was not sex.
I was saying that you couldn't RP as a homosexual anymore than you could RP as an atheist; it's just not a concept that exists in Ferelden.
I am glad you explained that as it is clear some folks do not understand. There is a difference between same-sex acts and the actual concept of homesexuality. The concept of being homeosexual is fairly recent. In the past it was more just something you did without any real orientation involved.
The Norse, for example, considered it normal for a male to have forced sex on another male as a way of showing dominance and humilation when an enemy was defeated. Being a "top" was okay, being a bottom was an insult. But that was because it was a sign of weakness (you had been defeated).
Many cultures have examples of same sex (male-male or female-female) in their history, mythology (especially mythology), and culture - but it wasn't an orientation where people would declare they were "homosexual".

What's more is that homosexuality in Ferelden isn't an issue -- or seen as anything other than quirky or 'huh' and a cocked eyebrow. It is perfectly within theme.

I also fell off my chair laughing with the response of "I wrote that article".
I was almost anticipating a reply accusing her of being homophobic, which would be the very definition of irony.
Unless I forgot what irony means again. I tend to do that.

As for the topic, maybe. I play games a bit differently. I don't decide on all aspects before I start playing. Creating the character, defining how old they are, how they look and what roles they fill are all nice and cool, but a personality has be "worn in". I can't make it prior to the game, it's something that is best crafted using the options offered to me.
It's different in PnP, but for computer games I will chose what I feel most opportune with my feelings of how my character would react at all times.
So, yes. Maybe my Dalish elf will find Zevran intriguing. Maybe one of my mages will find Morrigan's robes inviting. Maybe my alienage elf wants to chew on Leliana's lips, playfully. Maybe my noble human wants to taste Alistair's cheese.
I doubt they will all turn out that way, but it depends on the options offered for us.
But as for my dwarven characters, well... They already have eachother:

It's anatomically natural, as well as easy for hetero coitus, but ****** coitus, I dunno. I foresee "romantic" complications.

When I was typing that, I was flashing back to Brokeback Mountain, and that was anything but romantic. The word rough comes to mind.
