It irritates me that because Zevran is saucy and flirtatious, other queer men are writing him off as a limp-wristed, screaming queen.

See, I don't interpret Zevran as a limp-wristed screaming queen. I think of him more as the proverbial dashing, suave, baddass casanova. He's an assassin after all, he can't be that much of a sissy, right?

I have to admit I fell prey to that same trap myself. For awhile now I was anti-Leliana and not too thrilled with Morrigan either. My initial reactions have faded though, and now I'm willing to get to know what they're actually like before passing judgement.

I blame the constant popularity polls and my inability to resist them.

I will probably be happy with whichever NPC we get too; unless something about her *really* sours me. It'd be nice to have an option for that reason alone. Although there's something to be said about getting to know the other character on a later playthrough.

As far as Zevran is concerned, I have a friend that instantly expressed disdain towards him but for very different reasons. In my case it's the same snap judgement issue I had with Morrigan and Leliana. My initial reaction to his character video wasn't positive; plus I don't find him as attractive as Alistair. Buuut, I'm certainly willing to let myself be swayed after getting to know what he's truly like.

I also have yet to experience a 'bad' BioWare romance. At least I enjoyed them all despite any shortcomings. Liara's is at the bottom of my list though, and Silk Fox had the advantage of being unique and exciting at the time, despite its brevity. Up until then I only had Juhani for comparison and that was painfully understated before the final dialogue with her. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a fully realized, engaging romance this time. Here's hoping...

Are all characters able to be romanced also able to be romanced by any gender? I was under the assumption that only 2 of the characters would be available for same-sex romance and have been assuming that those two were Zevran and Leliana.

Those are fair assumptions, but nothing been officially confirmed.

See, I never felt that about him, even when all we knew about him was that he was flirtatious and saucy. I always took it as kind of a hint, but not that he's be like Zhang He . And especially not since his character vid came out.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned in gay men playing women would roleplay them as hetero. Well, I'm not gay, but I do roleplay female characters as hetero from time to time. Not because it gives me a rise or anything, but because it's usually what most men avoid.

Know what the "easy way out" for men who use female characters and make them lesbian are called? "Mesbians".

Is there anyway to get with both a man and a woman...not at the same time...but one after another?Or after you sleep with one person everyone else is off limits?What im trying to ask is can my male pc sleep with leliana and morrigan but at different times?Like i get morrigan and i get her to sleep with me,but i have not obtained leliana yet.So i leave morrigan at camp and take leliana.i get her to the point where she really likes me and i kept her away from morrigan as much as i could.Would morrigan but in and stop me at the camp when i get to the point where i would be able to sleep with her?

Yeah, maybe lol. I know sometimes I want to see a woman in armor or how hot women can get with the right gear set up. (a fem assassin will be a MUST for me!) More or less I just want to stare at a woman rather than a man for 70+ hrs for a change of pace. I will play a male character when I feel like putting myself in the game, or roleplaying stoic or serious natured people. If I roleplay a female character it has to be lesbian or I just feel weird about it lol.

*edit: Forgive me to getting politically correct here but, yes I know lesbian/gay people can be stoic or serious natured too lol. I have had friends in the past like this as well .

I believe it was David Gaider himself that wrote he was not particularly fond of sexual subjectivity (i.e. all characters being bisexual and adapting to the PC).

It's a bit of a shame, really, as it does limit options and choices, but so long as it's better than the M/M - F/F romances from Jade Empire, I won't cry.

I'm betting anything that my lil' heart will be broken and Alistair won't be the M/M option.

I fully intend to try all the romances at least once, and that includes the homosexual ones. I've always played all the romances in all the games I've played multiple times, because I am an unabashed content wh0re. I'll admit, though, that as games become more graphic, like Mass Effect, I'm finding playing characters who romance men less pleasant (the sex scene with Kaiden made me uncomfortable. Too much in character, I guess.)

I tend to play through all of the romances, too, time permitting. When I started up my femShep, I fully intended to do the Kaiden romance - I only abandoned it because I found him less interesting than Liara (I romanced Ashley the first time around and didn't even get Liara until I had cleared several of the major planets) and I don't have time to play through teh game a third time. I also couldn't stomach the Aerie romance in BG2, though I played through the other three to the end of Throne of Baal. I never played through any of the romances in Jade Empire - I missed them the first time around and I didn't really enjoy the game enough to play it again.



I actually do plan on playing a gay male character for my human Mage playthrough, though he's the third of three characters with whom I plan to run through DA:O. My first will be as a hetero male dwarf noble and the second as a weakly hetero female city elf who is quite cynical about sex - she understands it as an exercise of one's power over another rather than as emotional bonding, so I doubt any of the romance's will work for her as written.
