Whether Shepard lives or dies It will not matter to me. What is important is the story and the journey... when it's all over It's not like we are going to be able to play the rest of Shepard's life for him lol.

I insist there be an "ultimate badass" ending for stone-cold renegades like myself. Something involving taking over Cerberus and ruling from behind the scenes in that kick-ass office TIM has along with his personal army of hot secretaries serving you fine wines and cheeses as you arrange for an "accident" to befall somebody who has angered you.

I would also approve of this.. ^

Or Shepard becoming indoctrinated and actually assisting the Reapers at the end, just like Saren.. The last fight would be you defeating your own team and finalizing the Reaper's plans.

Actually, if they pulled it off right, that could be an awesome sequnce for Renegades against their team.

Indeed, or combine the two, have Shepard slaughter the crew on the normandy and force Miranda to tell you where TIM is located before you execute her.  Then walk into TIM's office, put a poignant round into the head of the man that brought you back to life and watch Haestrom go nova allowing Reapers to pour into galactic space, all while sitting in his chair and smoking one of his cigarettes that you pulled off his corpse. The scene would be epic.

Any reasons why they shouldn't, OP? All you did was say it's a bad idea and if they do it, the series will suck. That's hardly persuasive.

"Death of the protagonist" endings can be great. I wouldn't be too let down if Shepard died.

I like the idea of multiple endings for ME3, like more than 3. But honestly, I don't see a problem with a martyrdom ending. How is sacrificing oneself to save the galaxy from reapers in any way "showing that all the work put into my Shepard was all for nothing because my Shepard will be dead anyways," as some others have pointed out (not a direct quote, just a paraphrasing quote)?

I don't agree that Shepard killing himself in the end is a bad thing. There have been plenty of stories where the main character dies for the greater good, and it didn't impact the story negatively.

However, I do support the option to have multiple endings, not the just the typical PARAGON or RENEGADE ending. I feel like Bioware needs to push boundaries A LOT more for this game.

Honestly, if ME3 did it right you could have Shepard die (for realz this time) at the end and it would be totally cool. Meaning Shepard made the sacrifice to save the universe and it happened at a big climatic finish and his name is remembered post mortem by all races for centuries to come.

Once ME3 is done well that saga is over anyways. Mass Effect has a million other stories to tell with many other characters. I think people need to accept that death is a part of life. Or you could have Mass Effect 4 with Shepard in an old folks home drinking OJ from juice boxes and complaining that he can never get the channel he wants on the vid screen.

I don't know what your worried about to be honest man - the people creating this game will have a connection and passion for mass effect that would surely rival any maniac fan and far beyond! Alot of love has gone into this universe - i'm pretty certain they won't make the end of this trilogy a bad one. It will be kickass, no doubt. Plus, dlc is kinda good for making money i hear - how would that work post release if the star of the show is dead?

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!! NO MARTYRDOM ENDING!!!!

Building shepard up over the course of 3 games just to have him die canonically would be an absolute kick in the quad; and i'll feel like all that time playing as shepard would have been a waste.

How is it a waste if he/she saves the galaxy? If Shep just died in the beginning of ME3 and you played the rest of the game as TIM I can see it being a waste, otherwise, I see a martyr ending as being the best and most appropriate for at least my idea of Shepard. It better be an option at the end at least and preferably it should be an inevitability if your actions throughout all three games make it the most logical outcome.

This is the last game and the LotSB ending convo with a romanced Liara made me think Shep is pretty much at peace with the fact that he/she will most likely die with the coming conflict.. All my Sheps will be dieing at the end, hopefully, if that option exists.. Our hero is living on borrowed time imo after having been killed once already.

And it wouldn't even need to be a big "die in a blaze of glory" ending, maybe just die alone and cold in dark space near the corpses of the reapers he/she defeats, unable to return to galactic space. Regardless, Shep's death best be an option, I wouldn't want it any other way.

Yeah have fun with that depressing, emo ending you insist on.

A forced martyrdom ending is just wrong on so many levels.

I personally want my Shepard to fail and the Reapers to win, it'd be a far more dramatic ending.

However I don't want this to happen because of stupid decisions and rushing through the game ala ME2's suicide mission.

Why do people like you keep insisting that any time anyone suggests anything for ME that you dont like you start crying about not wanting it "forced" on you.
Guess what?

Bioware have NEVER forced any decision or choice or OPTION on you in ME or DAO! EVER!

Why do you suddenly imagine that would change?

May I suggest that you grow the **** up and stop crying about being "forced" into things that you WILL NOT be forced into?

Personally I think the way things are going we are going to end up with some sort of Dues Ex Machina in order to defeat the Reapers. Which kinda sucks.

You mean like that time TIM completely betrayed me and almost got me and my squad killed, and I was allowed to purposefully direct my Shepard into using this to drive a wedge between my crew and TIM even more by telling them outright that he set us up on purpose, rather than simply having an automated cutscene where the event is glossed over and its directly stated that Shepard didn't tell them what really happened and in fact told them that TIM didn't set them up and it just seemed like it?

Oh wait...
