I wish I was as good you  with my customs, I can't paint that level of detail yet.
Looking forward to that Harbinger figure, it should be a beast!
Ever thought of an Aria figure?

You really, really can. I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm a poor painter (although better since I started this). The only small details are the faces and the logos, both of which are easily done. In fact I'm gonna make a little guide for them in a second, it would be really cool to see someone else make some figures too (if enough people try Bioware might see that there's a market for a limited-run official figure line, and that would just be awesome).

I guess Harbinger would just be a big figure moulded to look like a bug, scarred up heavily and painted bright yellow with black drybrushed over. It does sound fun.

Aria would be awesome actually. She's kind of like Boba Fett in that she's a massive badass that we don't really know much about. In a way I can't wait til I'm done with the main crew so I can just be playing through and think 'man, that random side-character is cool, I'm gonna make the only action figure in the world of them!'  Jentha, the Blue Suns captain in Garrus' recruitment mission, is another character like that. I always try and biotic throw her out the window rather than kill her, I like the idea that she survives.

You are hardly a poor painter, these are great customs. Harbinger will be awesome and the Blue Suns armor is indeed cool.
About my painting skills
So far.....
My custom figure eyes are now in frame and look normal, my detailing stays within lines but is stil too wide when compared to the surface it is painted on and I am close to basic appearance alteration  looking seamless when I add something small to an already painted figure.

Remember that even official figures have simplified details, I think it's better to give an impression of a character rather than make it as detailed as a 3D model can be. I don't even know what you mean by putting the eyes 'in frame' tbh, I just whack them above the nose on either side. And as for looking seamless, none of mine do. It's always clear where has been painted, if only due to the paint having a different texture than base plastic. At the end of the day besides being toys these are crude little pieces of art, perfection doesn't matter as much as the general look.

It would be great to see your figures so far if you want to post them.

Also bump for Grunt (no judging my taste in books and the girly deodorant is my girlfriends I swear,).

Ok, a quick guide to the logos. The only 2 small logos that matter are N7 and and the Cerberus logo, which is similar between Miranda and Jacob but if memory serves the colours are reversed.

Either way, first paint the background armour colour. Then loosely paint on the logos without worry yet about how neat it looks. Once the different stages of logo are done, carefully paint over the mistakes in the background armour colour. Bam. job done.

THAT IS KROGAN!
I meant that the eyes looked too big and I couldn't paint within the confines of the "eye socket" of the figure, that is all, and I "perfect" Mass market figures that have paint flaws, like an iron Man that lost most of his gold paint within three weeks of purchase or figures that don't resemble the character exactly, I just make them more accurate.
My figures are all amateur stuff with two improvs and two detailings and one full custom.

Fancardo, post pics. My curiosity is piqued.

After Grunt I want some simpler characters, so next will be Samara and Kaidan. I have the base figures, reference pics and a bit of time next week so they shouldn't take too long to do at all.

GI Joe movie Baroness was the base for Samara, Miranda and Tali, and will also be Kasumi, Mordin and Legion. It's just a good figure for a base; good articulation, sturdy, not much detail to remove, feminine looking for the girls and thin enough so you can build off it for bulkier characters. She owns bones.

She is a great base indeed, How about movie armor Scarlett? She has great tech detail on her and she could make a great Avina.
