Duncan is dead. Duncan is not resting. He was a remarkable bird, with a remarkable beard that you had best not trim because it won't grow back because he is dead. Gone. Kaput. An Ex-McGuffin, he's ceased to be. Bereft of life, he rests in peace.
So please stop poking his corpse.
Doesn't mean DG wasn't lying.
The devs have lied before, just so you know. When Jack's video was released they said that she wasn't the biotic prisoner Shepard recruits. Come release day that was proved a lie.

Why is it so hard to accept Word of God as truth until such a time as God says God was lying? It's been confirmed that Duncan is dead. Confirmed. Not hinted, not implies, confirmed. There is no attempt to mislead us. If God DOES eventually decide that Duncan actually didn't die, then that will be that, but they're not hiding anything from us. Get a grip.
Why is it so hard to accept that some people don't believe in gods? And why would I accept the word of anyone as truth if I don't like it and there is no proof?

Proof? You want the writer of a fictional universe to offer proof toward what he's saying about his fictional universe? There's no proof that Vader was Luke's father, other than that George Lucas told us so.

You said it is fictional, so I can believe what I want and so can you. So why are you getting so aggravated and telling people to get a grip?

Well that reminds me that first time I saw the Architect I actually thought it could be Duncan, which was wrong ofc as it later turned out.

But why would the darkspawn want to take off Duncan's armor and drag him away naked? There were quite a few soldiers around to carry underground. Stripping them all naked one by one would be quite the chore, and pointless as well.AlexXIV wrote...
Well aside from his body I find it even more remarkable that his armor never showed up. I'd guess that at least some Darkspawn carry it around or even wear it. We even got his sword and dagger which seemed to be of little interest for Darkspawn (since they left it untouched). So question is why do Bioware say 'Duncan is as dead as dead can be' if on the other side they make his body and armor disappear mysteriously.
About Hawke seeing Duncan before his demise...
Let's see what happens after Duncan took that blow to the face: (Keep in mind each of those travels takes days).
- Warden and co. are ambushed and mortally wounded.
- Flemeth arrives and saves the wardens.
- Flemeth carries them back to her hut and tends to their injuries.
- Days pass before Wardens recover.
- Warden, Alistair and Morrigan travel to Lothering.
- Warden and co. tend to whatever business they had in Lothering and depart.
- Warden and co. travel to either of the following: Lake Calenhad, Frostback Mountains, Brecilian Forest, Redcliffe, Denerim.
- Warden and co. recruit their first army.
- Lothering is attacked and destroyed by darkspawn.
If Hawke fleed Lothering during the darkspawn attack, traveled to Ostagar and saw Duncan before he gasped his life out...man, now that's some last breath.

Well I was stripping all my enemies as well and it didn't seem pointless. Even if a bit weird maybe. I don't know, Duncan was kinda high ranking GW, maybe more valuable as a trophy than Cailan who was just an idiot in royal armor.

Well, you could sell all that armor to any store you wished. Even in Gnawed Noble. That doesn't count. heheAlexXIV wrote...

Yeah, Duncan's armor was stylish. But Cailan was the king. Desecrating Duncan would ****** of the wardens and wardens only. Not many others would give a damn, you see.

I hope they didn't eat the armor, too... *sigh* At least we saved his weapons.L33TDAWG wrote...
If you remember, Morrigan said the Darkspawn swarmed the corpses after the battle because they were: A, feeding, B, taking them underground. I choose A for Duncan.
Alistair's dialogue makes little sense after you install Return to Ostagar.
Alistair: It just occured to me that I have nothing to remember him by.
Warden: You've got his sword and dagger equipped right there, if you didn't notice.
Alistair: Oh, look, a cloud! I expect rain. Ho-hum hum hum...hum

Actually George Lucas didn't direct The Empire strikes back and was just as most others surprised by this twist.

Show me that link, please. I'm curious if was a flat out lie or a twist on the words.
If it is a lie (and I don't see why it would be) I would have a lot less respect for DG, which would be a sad time.

Thing is, they can say what they want, it doesn't matter for ingame situations. You don't go looking on forums for answers for ingame questions, as in lore or history or whatever. Of course you can ask and get an answer but what is important ingame gets either solved ingame or not at all. I mean, you didn't witness him dying, you didn't find any evidence of his death. Why'd you really think he was dead for sure? Because Flemeth told you so? And even if Bioware decided that he is dead and gone, what if they change their minds? It's not like they couldn't if they thought it important. Darth Vader, Sidious and even Boba Fett survived Episode6 (in the EU) and who would have thought? Well SW is not the best reference to proper storytelling maybe, but SW is probably the most popular sci-fi/fantasy franchise in the western world, so ...
