Grant the big lug a break! Jory is a novice 2H that has to be convinced thru Tactics to use Indom, stop asking for a fight when he already has his hands full, and does not have a helm in the first place. Obvious head trauma.....

Plus he is married, and thus has In-Laws; has he not suffered enough?!!

Perhaps Duncan was being merciful to put him out of his misery, then.

You forgot that he had endured the mesmerizing experience of becoming Champion of Redcliffe through the grand melee. Too bad, eh?

I always viewed Duncan as doing us all a favor - imagine having Jory as a companion??  <shudder>Posted Image

And once again, I'm wishing that Daveth had survived. :( Even if he was a rogue who couldn't pick locks.

I liked Daveth, he was snarky and smart and really understood what the Wardens needed to do.

Daveth?  Really?  Sure, he had some good lines, but the man was kind of useless in a fight . . .he's ALWAYS dying in my games.

He was useless as melee, but priceless when you had him in ranged archer mode.

I would have re-spec'd him as an archer, but I liked his character more than his fighting.

Take a look at most of his talents, they were all archery.

Actually he wasn't too bad in melee either, but I do recognize his main build into archery. At least in my game half of his kills were done with daggers.

Jory would've been one companion I would've used the option to kick him out of the group.

He always jumped into melee for me . . . I guess I forgot what his spec really was . . .

If he retains enough tactic slots, you could order him to switch to melee weapons and attack (two different commands) when he is engaged by blade. Though it may sound stupid, I doubt that placing good weapons on archers would be a waste should they have to use them.

Sorry for the double post, but I was wondering on how many people agree with my claim that Duncan is a rogue rather than a warrior. I have NOT read The Calling yet, so my personal claim is speculation.

I agree, mostly because he was a thief.  And apparently realises the importance of speed and finesse.
But gameplay wise, I think he'd be like a "rogue warrior" and not so much the "pure rogue" build.

I'm inclined to agree since I've built my rogue along those lines. Also considering that Duncan's armor looks lighter than what you see most warriors in, makes me think he's a rogue.

I think Duncan is a rogue. His armor isn't heavy (doesn't look heavy anyway) , and dual weilding seems to be more userful for a rogue.

Archery + Korcari Wilds = easy.

The reason why I first inclined to the conclusion of a warrior was indeed because of the equipment. However, my logic started to cave in on itself due to his dagger. He could have been a dual wielding warrior.. Maybe. I do not believe that professional dual wielding with one or both daggers were to fit the playstyle of a warrior. Barbarians from D2 were not ecstatic over using tiny "toothpicks" we called daggers I imagine. They dual wielded giant mother****er axes and mauls!

Thus, because of the dagger I decided that Duncan's armor proficiency was nothing more than a "potential adaptation as a legionnaire scout" due to his excavations in the Deep Roads. If I recall myself correctly, one dwarf, perhaps in the Proving area, had responded to your statement of your apprenticeship to Duncan that "he knew what we dwarves faced down here everyday. He got much respect for it."

I'd like to assume that he may have learned a few legionnaire tricks, but there is also a generalization drawn from that every legionnaire I have seen tends to benefit from either heavy or massive armor; to me Duncan seems to be wearing medium armor at best. I suppose it is prudent to draw about that Duncan simply has more strength; at least enough to don a sword and medium armor. Any takers on a specific guess why? :o

Cunning bonus on a primary weapon = Rogue, most likely IMO.

For the same reason I sank points into strength on my rogue, to be able to use the equipment you want and to do more damage.
