Well... to be fair... no woman is shorter than any other woman either.

Wow... hopefully there will be a wider variety in heights in DA: 2, not that it's important or anything.

In regards to the pirate woman being a dwarf... I'm not sure, to be honest. The only dwarf we've seen so far is Varric, and the only in-game pic we have of him is his face.

Though I'm pretty sure that woman wasn't a dwarf, I'd have to see some pictures of dwarven women in DA: 2 first to be sure.

Besides, you seem to think DA dwarves have the size of lawn gnomes. This is a futile attempt, yet let me show you:



Notice how the lady dwarf height reaches the shoulder line of his loverboy? If you can't stand a head difference in stature, I honestly feel sorry for you.

I've seen more extreme differences in height between real life couples than this. And they get along just fine.

Basketball players and their wives. Even a tall woman is going look small standing next to a man that stands 6'10 and over.

As for the pirate lady, she clearly isn't a dwarf. However, she could be a half dwarf, which the devs said they do exist in the DA universe.

Some people are drawing comparisons between her and Salma Hayek, which is cool.

But this thread is about dwarves, and the romancing thereof! Uh, let's see... the fun part about games is being able to do things you couldn't in real life, and to toss away the various norms and expectations of real life as well, even your own preferences. Because who cares, it's a game. You're not weighing your physical attraction to said dwarf against any real potential of lifelong or even brief commitment.

And it's a fantasy game. So I'm looking forward to some fantasy oddness. Bring on the dwarf lovin'.

In all seriousness though. If you think about it, there is no reason biowaqre would make her look like that unless there were meaning to forshadow soemthing.

And another pic would be the one that shows how far down he leans.

Again. Could there be a human that looks like someone with a short female body but slightly more bulky and with a mans face? Yes. But why put someone like that in the trailer if its just a weird looking human.

Unless its not a weird looking shemale human. 
Because if its a dwarf, then shes not odd looking at all. In fact, is likely quite pretty and feminine for a female dwarf.

It's not so much a "there shouldn't" as much as the fact that getting two dwarven love interests in the same game seems unlikely. If there are, then all the better. We get twice the amount of awesomeness.

The pirate woman above... does not look like a dwarf to me (though as ShadyKat said maybe dwarf/human blood), but she definitely doesn't look like a shemale.

After rereading my comment, it was kinda trollish. Though not intentionally so.
I would like to apologize. It was meant as a friendly tease, not an outright flame or anything.


But seriously, I dont see how any of this is a bad thing. If you think about it logically, it really is verry likely that she is either a dwarf or a half dwarf as others have mentioned. The size and face of her seems to be atypical and rather intentional forshadowing. And nobody here has actually provided an argement otherwise.

And again. Why wouldnt this be a good thing? What about this wold be negative for you guys?


PS: would you guys be satisfied if your LI was only half dwarf? or would you want her as short, plump, and dwarfish as possible? Because I really doint see bioware giving you both.
I think a half dwarf would provide an extra layer to the character and her interactions with other party members.

You guessed, did not present any facts.
I see no reason to think that the woman is a half-dwarf, something that is extremely rare and only vaguely hinted to even exist. Doubtfully even a dwar, she is not that short.

The problem here was your tone. She is short, has an oddly shaped face, looks like a shemale, therefore she is our coveted prize we all expect to have as a love interest.

Pirate Lady is not that short. The reason you give for her supposed shortness is that Hawke bows over to kiss her. Two counterarguments to that, pick whichever you want:
number one: Hawke is almost as tall as the Qunari general who kills the viscount. Thus, Hawke is above average in height.
Number two: When Hawke bows over her, you can notice her back is arched backwards. Her head is also at a lower height during that frame.
Besides, pirate lady's face doesn't look that manly to me. She does looks a bit portuguese, though.
