It's a different body shape from the humans or elves in the games, and some people prefer the dwarf body over the others.

The human models don't have as pronounced ones. That much is pretty obvious.

So people who ask for dwarven romance would also do with more curvy human females?

That's pretty much the answer to my question then.

Not everyone has the same reason.

True. Another reason I'd want one is because I'm interested in the Dwarf Caste system and seeing how an interspecies relationship would payout with someone who's lived through it for so long.

I don't know if anyone knows anything about anatomy here, but the difference between Dwarves and Humans is height and proportion. A dwarf that is human height would be much wider than a human. It's not about the facial features or jaw, because those are generally the same. There is no defining facial feature that determines one versus the other, so far as we can tell already. In DA:O their faces were shorter and wider, just like their bodies. It should be obvious that the Pirate Lady's face is quite tall and narrow compared to the dwarf faces of DA:O. Since you have nothing to go by to compare it to DA2 dwarves except some stylized concept art, I don't see how you can keep insisting upon your point at least until you have an image of a DA2 dwarf to compare her to.

This loosely demonstrates how you can measure the height of a character in heads, which is how most character artists do it. Humans are 6-7 heads tall, I'm sure dwarves are at least a head or two shorter than that.

She's not a dwarf. How you could even
think that she is boggles my mind. She's Rivaini, which is no doubt why
her facial structure/appearance is different. Like someone said, her
"height" is due to the fact that he's bending her backwards.
Dipping her. Like how uber romantic, cinematic kisses tend to
go.

THIS.

Anyway...

I think people want dwarf romanes because there are short people in real life but not awesome dwarves. It's fantasy! People go crazier for Tali and she's got three fingers and might be scaly for all we know. Why the hell not. If there's a female dwarf LI I'd go for it even though I don't like the womens in real life.

A surface dwarf isn't in the caste system though. They are outcast. Like the one from Awakenings. Well she was a member of the dead legion but still not in the caste system. Also I guess romancing a non-dwarf also pretty much catapults them from the caste system.

Thanks for addressing 2 and talking about porportions.... while ignoring 1 right above it.

1 There is no way to have any facts one way or the other, but I did state that bioware had said that they were resizing the proportions.

Selective much?

Bioware said the arms and general porportions in DAO were something of a mistake and would be resizing them.

And thats not even taking into account what a half dwarf would look like.

Could she be human? Yes.
but I dont understand why this group, of all people, are determined it be impossible that she could be a dwarf or a half dwarf.

PS:
Dwarf faces are wider then human faces in DAO.

PPS:
I will admit that I can not say she isnt human, having not seen what a DA2 dwarf looks like.
though it would be fair for you to admit that you can not say she does not have any dwarf blood in her, having a similar lack of evidence to support that.

Well I doubt though he meant he wants a romance for information. He can get that from a regular companion as well. It might be interesting how it plays out to romance a dwarf within the caste but I would think they get kicked out. After all the system is quite restritive.

It's not that we wouldn't like her to be a dwarf, we just don't like saying a human is a dwarf when she's not. We want an actual dwarf. Of course we're resistant to the idea. I am not sure what you're expecting.

Well I'm sorry for overlooking your first point but it's not like they changed the proportions to something radically different. They just made them proportional in the first place. Like the long arm issue which is jarring and odd looking and people modded it because it isssss out of proportion. So they're going from "not porportional" to "proportional." They will continue to be shorter than humans but they will be... proportional.

People are arguing that she's not a dwarf because she's probably not. She's a human sized lady.

Well, okay, my bad for not noticing some of your earlier posts, but it still seemed odd to take the leap to guess she's a dwarf, then take a bigger leap to guess that she is a half-dwarf, which is not something we basically know nothing about in terms of physical appearance.

I'm not saying she is or is not a half dwarf. I'm just saying she has human proportions. Generally, that means Human. If a writer comes along and says that it's hard to tell a half dwarf from a human, because half-dwarves are more human like, then there might be enough ambiguity to argue about this.

Dwarf + Human = Human Child. There are no halves (same with Elves).

Edit: even if I'm mistaken Mary's post makes it very unlikely such a union would happen or produce a child.

Mary Kirby wrote...

Well, for one thing, dwarves have
enough trouble with fertility rates when they're breeding with other
dwarves. With humans or elves the odds drop to "miniscule." For the
other, there's still a lot of family and caste based politicking that
goes on among surface dwarves, and they frequently marry strategically,
much like their Orzammar kin.

There are half-dwarves. Elves are the only ones who aren't halved, I believe.

Bleh, can't believe this debate is still raging on.

Dragon Age dwarves are about 5ft tall and full figured.

Not everyone fancies size-zero "elfin" women.

I've yet to put out my back when bending down to kiss my girlfriend, and we're about the same height difference. It's not like he's trying to kiss someone who goes up to his knees.

Ah well the only time I was worried about size was when my elf was smaller than Morrigan.

Nothing wrong with thin and tall men and women of course but variation is nice. When I think about a huge muscular qunari female LI wouldn't be bad either.

While I support Varricmance to the utmost, it's nothing more than wishful thinking at this point. And, wow, talk about intolerance. Goodness gracious.
