@Nowshin- Thank you for the compliment :). I absolutely love my accomplishments with her character creation. I think Sundira is further proof that anyone given the proper tools could make dwarves beautiful in-game, but here I go bragging again :P

Varric is not confirmed and if you disagree without any proper told reasons, then do not post. Thank you.

So... I have to agree with whatever you say, to post on this forum?

We're not saying you HAVE to agree with us, but we're saying you need to not just blurt it out and you need to provide reasons for your opinion in educated, reasonable discussion. Otherwise you'll appear like you're trolling.

HOLY CRAP DID NOT SEE THIS

also QFT

If the whole reason people are arguing against Dwarf LI is because they secretly admit Hawke isn't MAN enough for a beautiful female dwarf, then that, honestly, makes me sad for DA2 :(

And why should there not be a male dwarf LI?

Because I don't want one. I don't want a short, stocky, hairy love interest. That's a good enough reason for me.

I think dwarven females in DA were much cuter than the dwarven males.

I liked Leske.  But generally, I agree.  I thought dwarven women were adorable, and dwarven men were pretty stereotypical beardy hairy dwarves.  I like Varric's design, but that's because he reminds me of Iroh, not because I find him particularly attractive.

So green, scaly lizardgrasshopper looking man is better than a male dwarf (whose personality might very well be extremely awesome), based on appearance? Not knocking Thane though, just wondering.

For me, personality is king.  My first thought upon seeing Garrus was not "HAWT DIGGITY DAMN"  My first thought was, "Hey, he's kinda cool, and I like his voice.  Maybe he'll turn up later?"  Then we got him as a squaddie, and my opinion of Garrus evolved to "HAWT DIGGITY DAMN" over the course of a couple hours of playing with him.  I'm going to stop myself before I start waxing lyrical about Garrus again, but I think I've made my point.

I won't throw a tantrum if we get a male dwarf. I just won't romance him. Ever. (Or not until my 6th + playthrough when I'm bored and curious and plan to dump him anyway.) I will be upset if there's no male human alternative though, but they've only done that to us once in a NWN premium module. I don't think they'll do that again.

And I don't think Thane remotely resembles a grasshopper. He's more humanoid than any animal he could be compared to.

What I am saying is that discounting a character just because of their appearance, despite their personality, is kind of funny when people romance and are fans of the alien characters in ME.

Though I'd be impressed if he could breathe through his thorax.  Might be difficult with that leather suit of his, though

As an incredibly shallow male gamer, I can say that Liara is attractive (human female secondary sex characteristics), and every female dwarf in DA:O is not.

I almost never romance non-humans, unless they're stupid close to humans to the point where it almost ruins suspension of disbelief and requires lampshading by NPCs.  You know, like the Asari.

Heck, not even elves usually.  I don't even usually play non-humans. Yep, I'm one of those human noble warrior/rogue playing, human romancing jerks that screw up the telemetry data for all the hardcore high fantasy folks.  Feel free to hate me.

No seriously, I wouldn't categorize myself as shallow.  Just that I like to immerse myself in the story and the method by which I do this is usually to play as a human who engages in relationships with other humans.  It makes the story more accessible to me.  It's not any more or less valid than any other method, it's just mine.

Finding someone or something attractive or unattractive based on appearance is not wrong. One can love plenty of people as friends and think they are wonderful, but never be sexually attracted to them. That's the difference. I'm not discounting such a character, but such a character as a love interest for my PC.

Personality, I humbly believe, is more important than appearance. I wouldn't romance a human I hated over a dwarf I liked just because humans are my first preference. Plus appearance does add variety and interesting alternatives if done right. (Like Aliens in ME)

I wasn't saying personal preference and what you are attracted to or not is wrong or right. I am just saying it's kind of funny that you flat out say you wouldn't romance a male dwarf solely based on his appearance and disregarding his personality... I guess it's because I don't find the aliens in ME attractive in the least (some of them are kinda gross to me, actually), yet I would still make my Shepard romance them if I liked their personality enough.

I wouldn't romance either in that case. Personality is more important than appearance, but personality does not make up for lack of physical attraction in my mind. Other people don't care about appearance, or have different standards than I in this case.

Like I said, if BioWare puts in a dwarf romance to please some people, fine. I just want a human alternative available.

A person/character would likely be devastated if they found out their significant other was not physically attracted to them in the least. It's not fair to either side. Unless one or both sides didn't care about physical appearance.

I liked Gorim as a (brief) romance for my female dwarf a lot because of his voice and personality and the fact that she was a dwarf as well. But we can't be dwarves in DA 2.

Hm... given a choice between:

1) LI's I don't find physically attractive, but with appealing personalities
2) LI's I do find physically attractive, but with unappealing personalities

I simply wouldn't have my protagonist romance anybody. #1 are cool to keep as friends, and I wouldn't want to pretend to like #2 just so I can get my character in their pants.

Edit: In fact, I was sorely disappointed I couldn't help Jack with her numerous issues without pursuing a romance with the character.  I would have had no problem with Shepard being her friend, but the "friendzone" that ME2 tends to trap your character in is really irritating.

Why not. They are the perfect height for......no...no I won't go there.

I don't really care to have a romance with a dwarf, but I am not opposed to Bioware making it happen for those who would be interested in a dwarven LI. I personally would be far more interested in a Qunari love interest because of it would be something of a Romeo and Juliet story if you consider the conflict between Qunari and other races.

They're shoulder height.
So they're perfect for... shoulder massages?

I think the absence of anything that resembles human relationships in qunari society prevents it from being comparible to a "Romeo and Juliet" story.

Well... Some of us would disagree. I found many dwarven guys very manly in a good way, especialy Leske.
But yeah, the female dwarves were cute, hot and badass at the same time.

Why are some people so against certain optional decisions and plotlines?

That is the most basic question. One cannot just give the reason of the appearance of certain non-player characters.

I guess the people who don't like the options in question are afraid they'll somehow accidentally stumble into those options.

I didn't say it was a good reason...

Don't wanna romance a dwarf, don't hit on the dwarf. Really, it's that easy.
