a quick google/look in most DA:O forums will tell you that you need to update something in windows to solve the problem.

One possible work-around is to find the executable in the DragonAge folder "DAOriginsLauncher.exe" You can make a shortcut to that file and it should start the game for you.

You'll need to update Microsoft Visual C++ if it's the problem with the start button. Check out this link...

Three different download options, only one of which you will want, with no explanation. Thanks, Microsoft!

Yeah, I was looking at that page for awhile. Still the patch I linked to is the latest vision and it worked for me. So, I hope that it works for you too.
Edit: Oh yeah, if you have win vista 32 like me then you want 'vcredist_x64.exe' thats the one in the middle. Sorry for not saying before.

Thanks for trying to help him but please be careful with your advice. It was a bit off.
Q. The game was working fine, I've installed Patch 1.01 and now the game won't start.
A. Version 1.01 requires the latest version of the Visual C++ 2005 Runtime Library, July 2009. Normally Windows Update is supposed to install this for you so if you haven't updated in a while, do that first and your issue will be resolved. Another method is to get the latest version directly from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en
Download and install the vcredist_x86.exe package. This package applies to 32-bit & 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Same install package is required for all of them.
