As a loyal Dragon Age fan and player - even after DOA and Witchhunt, I'm curious if those of us who have been there from the beginning will receive some sort of discount, or free copy, of the sequel. I honestly can't believe we were made to pay so much for DOA, which was a pointless add-on, and Witchhunt, which, though expensive, gave us such a short, short reprieve from our otherwise stressful lives.

The original game, however, has been amazing, and the majority of downloadable content was well worth the price. Is there any way that those of us who have downloaded all of the add-ons, and purchased DOA, can be rewarded or otherwise compensated for the above two additions?

It never hurts to ask...hopefully.

I'm sure they would have been willing to consider compensating you for spending so much on all that extra content - if they had forced you to purchase it in the first place. But they didn't. "Made to pay so much"? Who made you? No one held a gun to your head. If you spent too much money, that's your fiscal problem. BioWare need our money to live. Just give it to them, it's easier that way.

Might be some extra things (akin to blood dragon armor) when loading from a savegame that has them.

But I don't think you'll get a discount.

This isnt a rewards based program. You gives yo money, they takes yo money, you get weak DLC.

Off topic but what I would like is to have some sort of special edition with a miniature included (like morrigan or what not), it's ok if it is a bit more expensive. or with a t-shirt.
Dragon age is really worth advertizing :)

That's like ... because I bought all the Alien movies and collector's edition ones, I should't have to pay for the next time it's in theatres.

See where I'm going? I chose to buy them for my entertainment. Why should I be rewarded?

While you are at it you can try to ask for a refund buying a new brain. It can be they will offer a discount. Believe me, they will be well spent moneys.

Couldn't resist, sorry.

Those tend to be 100$ + special editions, atleast when a figurine is included. I would never, ever spend 100+ on a game.

Here. Have a cookie.

*Gives cookie*

Honestly, marketing usually thinks those who buy all Bioware games are going to buy them anyway and goes after the hawt, young thing who flirts around with other dudes...um...game developers. Isn't that just like Marketing? *Sniff*.

Come home. We can wear our PJs,  watch a teary soap and I also have 3 tubs of Ben & Jerry's. And commiserate.

There's a big difference between rewarding fan dedication and what you're talking about.

On a different note, I would like to take the OP's post and use it as an example of a larger issue. The OP feels that they are entitled to some kind of discount or bonus because they are a lyal fan of Bioware's games. This is the source of all the complaining about ME2 and DA2: Entitlement

People on the boards(not everyone) feel they are entitled to have Bioware make the game they want because they have always supported Bioware. The opposite is in fact true, By giving money to Bioware through buying their games, you are in fact granting them the entitlement to make whatever kind of game they like.

So there it is.

I'm trying to think of a gentler way to say this, but I can't: that really is one of the dumbest ideas ever. You're not going to get a free game because BioWare is a company, not a charity. No one forced you to buy the DLC, you know? *shrug*

Sorry you were unhappy about the DLC, but ah, what you propose will never, ever happen, not in a million years. Not even if you bribe the devs with dark-chocolate chocolate chip cookies...mmm, cookies.

The blood dragon armor was awesome... I hope we can get it back maybe even a redone model to fit the new armor models.

We deserve nothing.  We already get the ability to import a save game from all our DA:O + DLC + Expansion shenanigans.  Also, unlike random food products, the Dragon Age DLC didn't come with a "If you aren't completely satisified with this product we'll refund your  purchase in its entirity.  *some exclusions may apply*"

If we do get anything else:

It would be something like this.

I'll get behind this. Not that I deserve a reward or someone "forced" me to buy all of the Dragon Age DLC, but because if you get free stuff, so do I!

Wait, seriously? All right, OP, I'll bite. Why do we owe you anything more after providing a product that you purchased and played? Why would we offer a discount or a free product when you complain you didn't like a previous product? in short, why would anyone but you agree to ant of this? what benefit do we get out of this?

While I do understand what you're asking, heck I love free stuff too, it likely won't happen.

Reebok doesn't give away free shoes, Toyota free cars or Microsoft free computers. It just isn't good business.

That doesn't mean we don't appreciate you, just that, as a business, we appreciate your monetary support as well. ;)

Really Stan?

Customer Loyalty Discounts? Not unheard of. These days you see a lot of publishers trying their damnedest to negate the used game market. If they want to nix used game sales, then there has to be an incentive to buy new. If you preorder a game and the next release get a loyalty discount, then that entices people to buy the product new.

There is a whole book I could write on why this is good business, but I'm on my lunch break right now and don't have the time. Suffice it to say, customer loyalty programs aren't bad ideas. Ultimately it is the customers who buy new that allow you to have the job I'm assuming you love. They don't "owe" it to Bioware to buy the game new either, if you'd care to turn it around.

By having played the previous entry and its additional content, you get an inproved experience in the sequel. Surely that is more than any other developer has ever given you.

Wow, that does sort of sound fanboy-ish.

Extra content via importing saves? I mean:

-Play Game-x

-When Game-x's sequel comes out, import the file, even if it doesn't affect the game

-You get a bonus armour, or extra cash and experience or something at the beginning of the game.

Technically this already happened in Mass Effect 2, although the reason most people import are the choices, and not the 50,000 credits and small exp boost

At least nobody is leading a campaign to make this game free DLC like Left 4 Dead 2. Now that was stupid, worse than reading Mazes and Monsters in Middle School.
