Gotta agree with the above poster, Stan's isn't the best voice to hear. He's got his opinion, but it is usually said without tact. Customer facing employees usually need a bit of that.

That said I still appreciate the devs posting, regardless of the tone.

BioWare already gave away "free" stuff. That whole Bazaar thing or whatever. Didn't go to everyone, but it was free stuff to the people who got it. Wishing for a free product like those isn't cheap. Free in game items may be easier for BW to do.

I love how the three devs/moderator posted at the same time and encompassed the Bioware morality range of good-neutral-evil. Stan was the evil/renegade with his angry tone and dismissal of the OP's intelligence. The mod took on a neutral and even sardonic nonresponse. Finally Chris took, tyhe friendly good/paragon choice of being kind but at the same time reinforcing that the OP's wishes were not happening.

Of course. To the people who got it.

I can't believe I offered someone 3 flavors of ice cream, my home baked cookies- which are AWESOME and the chance to hang out with me and they didn't take me up on the offer.

That is it. No more cookies for ANYONE.

That said- the point I was trying to make - I believe that they don't think long standing fans are the target for any promotional thrust since they are long standing fans. I believe they think they need to get new users so most promotional spend would be directed towards them. Ergo, even if you are a loyal, long standing, "I buy everything", Bioware Superfan, you should be..."realistic" about this.

Cross gameing DLC/items would work and it is a very good marketing plan that ea has done before. Such as buying dragon age will give you an item in mass effect (dragon age armor). Would be cool to buy game and get something for mass effect 3 or old republic. Would also be nice if they gave first dlc for dragon age 2 for free if you purchase through a provider where you can not cancel pre-order.(direct 2 drive)

People just keep getting funnier and funnier around the neighbourhood these days.

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind getting home-baked cookies for our support.

Stan used to be the harmless fun guy around Bioware forums. Maybe the growingly powerful chaotic energy in the forums drove him to the darkside.:crying:

Wait, seriously? All right, OP, I'll bite. Why do we owe you anything more after providing a product that you purchased and played? Why would we offer a discount or a free product when you complain you didn't like a previous product? in short, why would anyone but you agree to ant of this? what benefit do we get out of this?

Doesnt understand the concept of a win win situation. I really dont think that the request is as outrageous as you make it out to be. Consider the cost of DAO and all the DLC. I mean really, a 5%(arbitrary amount) discount is waayyy too much to ask for?

What a crappy attitude.

A loyalty card? Similar to they give in some shops. "Buy 10 of these and we'll give you the 11th one free!"

You know they charge more for the first 10 don't you? To offset the cost of the free one?

On another note - I've been buying ID games since Doom - I demand they give me Doom 4 for free! (OMG I've turned into a troll. See what the OP's sense of entitlement did to me?)

While I do understand what you're asking, heck I love free stuff too, it likely won't happen.

Reebok doesn't give away free shoes, Toyota free cars or Microsoft free computers. It just isn't good business.

That doesn't mean we don't appreciate you, just that, as a business, we appreciate your monetary support as well. ;)

You know companys like Gillete make millions of dollars and give away there razors free of charge you know how they make millions people like what they get and want to keep using it so they buy replacement heads This is a great buisness plan.

I do not think it would be much to ask to send people a 5-10% discount on the game who registered and purchased all of your DLCS using the same email. As its those people you are likly to make a killing off of when they purchase every DLC from Dragon age II

The fact that you think its a bad buisness manuver not to give excentive to your high spending customers is retarded to say the least.

and as for your references to other companys Reebok gives coupons to returning customers. Toyota will take trade ins on there old models. and microsoft Gives away old verisons of there software such as microsoft word 2007 you just have to know where to look for the promotions.

As a loyal Dragon Age fan and player - even after DOA and Witchhunt, I'm curious if those of us who have been there from the beginning will receive some sort of discount, or free copy, of the sequel. I honestly can't believe we were made to pay so much for DOA, which was a pointless add-on, and Witchhunt, which, though expensive, gave us such a short, short reprieve from our otherwise stressful lives.

The original game, however, has been amazing, and the majority of downloadable content was well worth the price. Is there any way that those of us who have downloaded all of the add-ons, and purchased DOA, can be rewarded or otherwise compensated for the above two additions?

It never hurts to ask...hopefully.

I would already be happy if your actions and decisions properly transfer, right now I think the base game has some coding mess thats why the mother of that kid always ends up sacrificed, ect

I don't want to see something like that happen at the transfer from DA1 to DA2

Maybe not discounts, but a free item, like an armor, or a weapon, would be nice.

lol, you can't be serious.. a discount for being a "loyal fan"? For being ripped off (as if they forced you to buy it) by the "crappy products" of the same people you're asking the discount from? That's some nerve.

Leave it, the OP had an odd idea and will probably now have more to think about. No need to make this a long mock-thread.

Entitlement abounds, apparently. And in many of the responses as well. This is not Burger King, and you don't get to have it your way. The OP is just a small step short of being comlpletely ridiculous, and even he knows it, he wouldn't have bothered with the "maybe we don't deserve it" line.

Hint: gaming companies make sequels so people who owned the previous games will buy them. What you're suggesting is... well, that they do the reverse.

The occasional random free DLC would be interesting and nice. BW's done a few free DLCs with ME2, I think. Other EA franchises have done similar things, as have other companies entirely. A free game, though, as a loyalty benefit? Unheard of and silly.

IMO, though, the best way a gaming company rewards loyalty is by being responsive to fans. I don't post here often, but I have noticed BW people talking to us, and/or taking our concerns into account in DA products... and that's good enough for me.

I'd rather get free exclusive in-game content like the blood dragon armour in ME2. More than what we've already gotten though, like through in a for-fun mission or something.

To be honest, I WANT to give Bioware my money. Heck, I bought DA:O on the console after I owned the PC version since I figured it couldn't hurt to give them some more money. Y'know why? Because I LOVE the games they make. Dragon Age Origins is probably my #1 favorite new game in a long time and I can see myself staying with it for the long term. Furthermore, I'm already rewarded by my loyalty by them continuing to make new games and interacting here on the forums with us (something I've never seen done by any other game company). But if the games don't make enough money, other games won't get made. And I don't want that. So I'll gladly pay normal price.

I disagree it is not unheard of for various companies to give away free items aka. promotional events.

I support this! Particularly since I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon, and I think that since I've been driving it loyally for a few years, they should send my 2011 Toyota Avalon in the mail any day now!
