Of Vanguards and shotguns

It's unfortunate you have pay for it, but the pack containing the geth plasma shotgun and the new matlock assault rifle makes playing a vanguard incredibly fun. It's still rough at first before you develope a great deal of your talents, and taking warp ammo as your special ability (which honestly should be given to vanguards anyway, cause it just screams it, really, combat biotics and all), but vanguards are pretty rough and tumble now. If you haven't tried it, pick up the plasma shotgun and get your vanguard to his teen levels. What used to be a headache has turned into an adrenaline rush. The vanguard still focuses on a high risk combat style, but with the new guns it's more high risk and less really stupid. Since the geth shotgun is the best gun in the game if you have the dlc, you can skip out on the "super shotgun" in the collector mission and pick up assault rifles instead (also something I think should be baseline for vanguards).
Vanguard used to be unliked, if not hated. And no wonder. But with the new shotgun and assault rifle, well, let's just vanguards are all out of bubble gum. Go for a warp ammo (don't forget this essentially makes the pull ability a damage modifier), make sure you go heavy charge, pick up the right weapons, and a vanguard playthrough on insanity is actually fun.
Also, suddenly Jacob is actually useful. I just about had a heart attack when he actually killed something. Just remember it's still a death friendly playstyle with a lot of risks, so you'll still die from poorly calculated charges, but, because of the constant need to charge for those extra shields and the disgusting power of the geth shotgun at close range, you might find vanguard is your new favorite, fast paced, crazy class!
Once again, I"m not kidding, it makes jacob useful! Not "the best" but, not "completely useless" either.

As for warp ammo ugh inferno is much better due to the extra CC & pull already gives 100% bonus damage so losing the little extra damage you get from warp ammo on pulled enemies is no big dealB)

Really? I never played one because everyone complained so much about them. I should know better, honestly.
I know people used to complain about them like 6 months ago, but most of the complaining I see nowadays is about adepts.

And complaining about adepts is just as unfounded as complaining about vanguards. I think people complained about every class at one point other than the soldier or infiltrator. Once people posted vids showing how it was done, every class becomes a powerhouse. It all boils down to taste in gameplay. Fact is, you can use not one 2 dollar dlc item and still kick major butt with any class. Some items like the locust change the gameplay significantly for certain classess, but at least you're getting tons of other things for that 7dollar dlc.

That was about 7 months ago dude. Most youtube "Insanity Speed runs" are of the vanguard class, totally dominating.

And IMO the Eviscerator or Scimitar is the best Vanguard shotgun.

Anyway, I've learned my lesson. I guess the point is that it really is worth playing the game through on every class. Every class really is a cool experience. Vanguard was the last one for me, and I wish I hadn't discounted it. And it looks like it's time to try it with a different shotgun. Though I won't lie, the ability to use it at a slightly longer than usual range is nice every now and then.
Unrelated, I still love the assault rifle and pistol from that pack.

And adepts are actually quite easy too once you get the hang of it, and when your power recharge time is very low. I'll admit I had some trouble with Vasir and the Shadow Broker, but I started LotSB at the earliest point I could in a new game. If it was maxed I may have been able to halt the SB indefinitely with quick Singularities. I'm running through the game fast. I think I'm at about 12-13 hours playtime and past halfway finished with the game.sinosleep wrote...
