Thats a possibility. Change his last name to deny any involvement whatsoever... what a dramatic conclusion. No wonder he prvided Shepard with military support throughout ME1

When Spacers talk to their mother, at the end of the exchange she says "You're making us proud". Emphasis on the "us", so I think we can assume Shep's father is alive for Spacers. As to whether or not we'll actually ever see Mr. Shepard, I doubt it. But who knows? Maybe he will be the "Jenkins" character for ME3.

Preposterous!!... yet not as unlikely as  would have myself think.

The possibility is there, but only for wither Spacer or Earthborn.

Spacer for being proud of his son. Earthborn for 'basking in the glory' of having a son as the galactic hero. What an ass...

i think if you were earth born then you find out in ME3 the Anderson is your father. You were separated when slavers came a raided your planet or colony or where ever the hell you put your things. And come to find out he knew about it all along. Thats why he all ways took your side in things AND gave you the normandy.

In the Spacer background his mother is acting like a real weird mother. Like if she doesn't even care for him, i mean, just a little, but that's it. I'm guessing after Shepard went with the Alliance his fathers had a downfall and his father disappeared with only his mother staying in touch with him from time to time.
Or maybe is Harbinger.
