And I should point out that if anything, the Council would tell Vasir that ties with the Shadow Broker must be preserved at all costs, and that burning bridges with the SB is a definite no-no.

Even Shepard can't seduce a woman out of the blue in the middle of a gunfight.

Did you say that Shep can't seduce a blue woman in a gunfight? Mine can, Liara was putty!!!

Yeah, like blowing up a trade center to kill one person, while working for someone else.  What would Vasir do next, if the Shadow Broker asked her?
The Shadow Broker is an accepted part of galactic politics. After all Shepard can work with him in ME1 to bring in Saren.
Not so much "accepted" as being helpless to combat. The SB was tolerated by the Council partially because he showed no bias to any one side, but mostly because the Council couldn't do anything about him thanks to the level of secrecy at which he operated.

There's hardly any real proof of that. You're just assuming that is true. The evidence you mentioned is circumstantial and vauge at best.
The reputation of the Spectres speaks for itself.
You have to take into account that Galactic media will work much the same as media now - that is Spectre actions which are controversial will receive much greater coverage than those which discreet, and will therefore shape a more ruthless reputation for them.

That is true, but I wasn't just talking about the public reputation. I meant the way the Council regards them. Not just in the freedoms they are given, but in the way the Council judges your decisions.

Feros is the best example. If you slaughter Zhu's Hope the Council never questions it, in fact the salarian even approves because it shows that you'll put the mission above all else.

If you save them though he feels the need to remind you of your mandate. Clearly the Council is more comfortable with the renegade approach (when it isn't pro-human at least).

Also, I'm very much hoping and expecting more Spectres.  Since they are "the first and last line of defense" for the Council, when push comes to shove, I expect to see them all out there, fighting alongside each other against the Reapers.  Since LotSB proved that, morality questions aside, they are all pretty much the ultimate galactic badasses, it should be awesome.

This is what I'm talking about. Eventually all the 100 or 1000 Spectre's are going to cross paths from their investigations once realizing of the Reaper threat - which should be quick if the Spectre's are any good.

I also expect to see plenty of Spectre's, whether NPC's or just for cutscenes or possibly even some that temporarily join your squad in ME3.

Then why didn't Vasir say this?  Vasir made it clear that she was working because she wanted to protect the info source that had helped her so much, not because she was ordered to.

Also, if she was working under Council orders, and the bombing was ok, then why would she have to hide the bombing from the Council?

Zhu's hope is a remote colony with a high degree of plausable deniablility. Condominums on heavily populated Illium are another matter. Also these are Asari lives, not Human.

They could spin it either way, but since Shepard lived...

Oh I'm not saying she was under orders from the Council at all.

I'm just saying that if she ran it by them, they'd probably frown at the idea of getting on bad terms with the Shadow Broker. I'll bet they've used the Shadow Broker themselves many times in the past and don't want to lose that resource.

Not saying they'd endorse the destruction of a whole office building or anything, though.

IIRC there are fewer than a hundred Spectres. Considering the sheer size of Citadel space and the trillions of people who live in Citadel space, the Special Tactics and Reconnaissance 'unit' is extremely small. It makes sense that Shepard isn't tripping over other Spectres on his missions, but I would like to at least hear about other Spectres out there and their missions, even if through something like the Cerberus news updates.

Grr. I have the ability to incite galactic war between the quarians and geth! Bring back the krogan hordes that almost laid waste to the galaxy! Cure the genophage and strengthen the massive geth nation! There should be Spectres on my tail 24/7! Where are they? Where?

If all Spectres are as good at what they do as Shepard is, maybe there is another Spectre watching Shepard but Shepard just doesn't know it :bandit:. The fact that nobody has tried to kill Shepard in his sleep yet could be taken as the Council approving of Shepard's actions in ME2 thus far. Maybe as soon as Shepard steps out of line, a bunch of Spectres will materialize out of nowhere like ninjas.

One climbs out of your fish tank, another comes out of the captain's personal restroom (since no one ever notices it) and the rest are in the hold or sleeping pods.

I always wondered about that fish tank and now I know why it's there. It's the perfect hiding spot for the galaxy's favourite hanar Spectre...
