I've always gone the smg or assault rifle route with my engineers but decided to go ahead and take the shotgun this time around and it's been a blast. Made the first vid with Legion going the two drone route, then switched it up and made Grunt my second drone for the second vid. Both were fun, but while editing the video I noticed that if I'm going to have to Grunt be a drone I might have to add fortification to my hotkeys. One of the times he died fortification was available and he simply didn't cast it. May have been from getting beat on though who knows.

So I've decided I'm going to be updating the OP like I did with the weapon comparison thread, so here it goes....

Haha, awesome stuff!

Hard to believe some people consider the Drone underpowered.

I do. I have a shotgun engineer and an AR engineer. The shotgun engineer is more satisfying. Walking over a frozen mob and shotgunning him on the face....

One thing I love about about shotgun is that you can choose between Evi, GPS and Scimmy for a little variety in gameplay experience.

I don't get it why people complain about the drone though.

+1 for the scimitar on the Talimancer engineer. It went really well on my playthrough, thanks to Drone and Incinerate.

My first Engineer took the AR because i felt it was the most balanced weapon class.

By the time i had finished i realised i could walk up behind them, put my AR against the back of his head and hold the trigger.

So now my Engineers use shotguns.

I love shotguns more than any other weapons in the game. For Engineer I prefer Assault Rifles (Mattock now, Vindicator before Firepower DLC) for some reason. I also have a shotgun Engineer, but I like the AR one better.

I like Shotgun Engineers because the GPS feels very "techy" compared to the other shotguns. I like the roleplay idea of my Engineer collaborating with the Cerberus techs to modify it for maximum damage and minimal recoil. (No danger of breaking her arm like the Claymore would have.)

Awesome vids man Engineers need more love.

I used gibbeds to mod the weapons layout on my solo engineer so she has both the GPS &  Mattock but i seem to only really use the Mattock for big enemies like Scions, Gun Ships etc.. & for everything else shotgun rules:P

+1pt in Cryo Blast for the occassional troublesome Krogan/Geth Prime/YMIR/Husk.  No you didn't need it but it would have stopped that Krogan from shoulder-ramming you at the end of the Dantius Towers vid had you cast even 1pt Cryo Blast instead of Incineration Blast.  Saves ammo too; two/three elbow swings and shatter.

Anyway great vids, Engineers have been needing more video love and bonus points for a Evi Engineer.  There has been only one other round here that I've seen make an Evi Engineer vid; I think it was Arkha.

Love how you used that side-hallway flank on the second level of the Dantius Towers.  I've always wondered why I've never seen people use it.  Made me think I was the only one who knew it existed, lol.

Yeah I noticed that too and wondered how it didn't kill Shepard.  Not just there, but other parts too; like jumping over cover and charging Vorcha even when low on health, only surviving because the enemy AI decided to try to retreat instead of just shooting.  Not just here, but in all PC ME2 videos I've seen in my time on these forums.  I know its probably crazy, but it makes me feel like the enemy AI is more aggressive on the 360 version.  If my Shepard's in the open, I get shot at guaranteed.  I've seen enemies try to retreat before for me too but they always backpedal while still shooting constantly at me.  I've always wished I had the setup to record video but I guess I won't end up with as intense of videos anways since most of the times I try to be extremely daring hoping to fake out the AI, they always just shot me dead in 3 seconds of insanity gunfire.  Thank god Vanguard's Charge restore shields each time, heh.

Yeah, it didn't help that a) I left Grunt positioned on the bridge where he wasn't in good position to shoot at him and B) I also neglected to use his concussive shot once he hit health. I didn't realize either problem until I was editing the vid. Guess the pressure got to me, lol.

Nope, I use it too. I flank and surround whenever I can.

Christina Norman...

Balancing for pc vs console is incredibly difficult, we do our best
(enemies are tougher on pc than on xbox) but pc will always offer more
precise controls, and better sequencing of attacks.

My question is in what way are PC enemies tougher to offset the PC's better controls?
Do they have better AI are is it just higher stats:huh:

Don't play 360 so I can't compare or anything, but I've noted there's like a threshold when it comes to aggression, where if you go at it half-hearted, you get slaughtered in seconds. When you throw caution almost entirely out the window, it's like the enemy AI just can't handle that, and you get away with crap you never thought possible.

If aggression is getting you killed, the answer is often to be MORE aggressive!

Yeah, It's a bit weird. I remember playing the Adept for the first time on insanity and getting pwned by the Collectors and Scion - after the 4th re-try I ended up charging the Scion after slapping a singularity on him, and ended up melee'ing him to death. Bemused is probably too tame a word to describe my state of mind at that point :P

Nice vids again sinosleep ! Shotgun engineers are great fun. I am running one with a 1pt stasis and GPS it is working out really great. I'll definitely give a try to geth shield boost and the evi.

I went with GSB primarily because I knew that playing like I do I need some kind of shield recharge to use when I do something stupid like run after enemies when I'm already on health. There are definitely some other bonus powers that would work well with this build. I know from watching OniGanon's infiltrator vids that neural shock is more valuable than I ever gave it credit for.

I've loved NSw on both my Engineer and my Soldier playthroughs.  It has a quick enough cooldown (you can get the tech cooldown upgrade pre-Horizon) to not get in the way of other power use.

I think the engineer is one class that can use stasis to its fullest potential. It doesn't interfere at all with the drone and lets you completely cc two target of your choice. I always cast drone first to occupy one mook, stasis another one, charge the position with gps. Each time stasis wears off, I try to time a melee of death to the poor target and move on. Works wonders on scion and husks (area incinerate+stasis and charged gps) and on mercs. It's the most aggressive i've been able to play the engineer, even more than with geth shield (but I am not very used to shield powers honestly) and with a BIG use of active powers, wich is a plus over a shield power to me. Only the collectors can somewhat resist because the most dangerous target is harbinger (without kasumi at least...) and he can kill the drone pretty fast and is immune to stasis. Otherwise, if you use the fall of death, it is crazy good CQC casting with a shotgun :)

Only thing that could go better is being unable to map Incineration blast, attack drone, 1pt stasis and cryo blast because I'm on xbox, so I used melee and shotgun instead of cryo blast hehe

I can see how stasis could help a shotgun engineer by taking someone out of the fight but the way I play I really need a shield power. I can't stand waiting around for the shield to recharge so I run after people when I'm already in the red or about to go into the red, I need a quick mid-battle shield booster in order to keep playing like that.

haha no doubt about you making good use of an extra shield sino. I'll definitely try a barrier+shotgun adept next. It's the only class that I don't have a shotgun\\cqc build with. AR's are great dps and all, but nothing beats a ohk with red veins all over the screen. I'll get accustomed to shield powers, I never messed with them much. Main reason is that I can only map the class power (singularity) and one other on console version.... damn xbox buttons don't go that well with the adept. Not that I don't like the class, but only mapping 3 powers makes you have to pause way more often with adept than any other class (except maybe engineer)

I'm very much diggin' the build as well.  Running as a GPS Shotgun Engineer at the moment.  I'm currently in the process of a very slow burn playthrough, and my latest so far are only 2/3rds of the way through Purgatory:
