Thanks for you kind words, Boz !

Regarding the Claymore, TBH, I think I'm still at training school :?
So, given I can't be apart from my Vanguard, I reloaded the DCS mission and took the Krogan shotgun.... slowly and gradually getting better with each oneshoted foe, but still messing up....

Anyway, from a previuos run in the Reaper IFF (that I didn't particularly like) I got this footage that I wasn't going to waste....
It doesn't happen often, so Grunt charging Scion deserves a vid :wizard:

Also, thanks to my friend @jlb524 for pointing me into the right direction with the music for this little experiment. Although choosing a song from a compilation with 101 tracks, was not so easy

1.  That was awesome, I don't use grunt enough I think.

2.  Loved the music.  Though its costing me, adding aero**** songs to my itunes account as I type.

I've been running a shotgun engineer with dominate as a bonus power... I really think this has the potential to be my favorite class, especially if we can carry over bonus powers to ME3.

You've made the IFF mission look easy, jwalker.  Great work!

My latest SG Engineer videos below has been mostly getting re-acquainted with the Claymore.  I've been relying on Neural Shock as an immediate countermeasure to those that weren't oneshotted.

Rest of the Disabled Collector Ship:
Collector Ship - Part 2

The next two vids are from a personal favorite mission - Grunt's Rite of Passage:
Urdnot Ruins - Part 1
Urdnot Ruins - Part 2

The Thresher Maw battle was done as a homage to Kronner's Claymore only Maw clip.  There are spots where the Maw can't hit you with its acid attack, which can be used as an advantage when firing at it on close range.

Great videos guys!

@ jwalker: didn't know you could 'direct' all husks to approach you, using one ramp only.

@ Huckbein: Nice work with the Thresher Maw, didn't know there are some spots it can't spit you.

Learned a couple things today, thanks for sharing!

Anyway, I wanted to show the Engie has a very smooth run using drones and squaddies.  No stressful moments being overrun by zombies !

All props to sinosleep, showing Grunt as a secondary drone a while back.

Reapper IFF 2/3

Enjoy!

That's amazing!  You didn't even use your shotty there for awhile.

Thanks guys and gals !

@ Huckbein: great job with the Thresher Maw. Your Shepard came out of there spotless :D
Any class can benefit with your tactics there. Posted Image

@ Boz: I haven't tried it, but I guess an Adept should be able to do something similar. Grunt to draw aggro and a Singularity on the floor. Black hole for zombies

The way you play a shotgun engineer, full-on cqc just the way claymore-use demands for maximum efficiency yet on a class never designed for that weapon, awesome.  Once you attack you're out of cover most of the time, never taking damage due smart use of attack drone, neural shockwave, and clever positioning.

Also it's funny from a lore perspective; a puny human engineer staying dominating in cqc with krogan warriors.

I love using the scimitar on my engineer yet though a much more forgiving weapon, I'm still not as efficient when playing her aggressively in cqc.

Yeah, Singularities work briliantly there, but I don't use them anymore. The coolest thing about the last part of IFF mission (for me) is getting surrounded. ME2 is too linear IMHO, you don't have to worry getting surrounded or flanked by enemies. This IFF fight, and the final battle on the SB vessel (opening the hatch) are among the very few where you can't dig in and take out enemies one at a time - instead you need to keep moving to get/keep superior (battlefield) position. I'll hope ME3 has more fights like these, makes thing a lot more dynamic and fun!

P.S. How did you manage that on IFF? You positioned Shep and squad at one point of the ramp and all the husks attacked using the other ramp. Is that because your squad 'blocks' the way? So husk AI determines they can't use that ramp anymore and move to the other one instead?

No, I think is something with the AI there. If you're near the console, for some reason they take the long way to get to you. They don't use the closest ramp. However, if your Shepard is down somewhere, they will use those.

Given that an engineer is limited to the HP and SMG which are both reletively close range weapons plus their heavy weapon I don't know why you'd choose another close range weapon like a shotgun vs. a sniper rifle.  Then the Firepower Pack came out with the Mattock and I became a AR fan big time.

I  even redid my femgineer playthrough on Insanity because of that DLC and blew it away fairly easily thanks to the Mattock plus the right combination of skills.

I disagree with your assessment of pistols and SMG's being close range weapons.  The Shuriken and Tempest function well at close range, but the Locust performs well at a greater distance.  The Carnifex and Predator are decent enough at mid to close range combat, but the Phalanx's special accuracy makes it a decent sniper substitute.  And thanks to the GPS, there's a shotgun for mid range combat now too.

My point is that ME2 has a wide variety of weapons, even in the same type.

As to why I'd choose a shotgun, it's fun and rewarding.

Locust or gtfo. seriously though I find the sniper more useful for engineer, no idea why I just do (probably just my playstyle).

What's people's opinions on the Geth Shotgun? I play almost exclusively Engineer, they're simply so badass. I'm now just on the collector ship and I have to choose my third weapon, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle or Shotgun...

The Locust is more accurate and/or powerful than almost all of the assault rifles, and the engineer doesn't have the health to go up close with the shotgun, so the sniper rifle fits the best.

Have you checked the OP? There are a couple dozen videos about Engineers who do get up close and personal to fire their shotguns in the unlucky guy's faces all day long. Engineers are skilled CC ers and using their powers smartly ensures little to no return fire at all.

I definitely like 'em. My first insanity run was as a shotgun engineer an it was one of the most fun playthroughs so far. I think shotgun goes extremely well with the engineers effective CC abilities. And I didn't even use AI Hacking that much.
