What little bit I've read about the character intrigues me. IMO, a great potential LI.

She's the empress of Orlais. The DA Wiki says:

The current Empress of the Orlesian Empire, the creators of Dragon Age have compared Celene I to Catherine the Great.

Within her country, some claim that, at the age of seventeen, she organized her uncle's assassination and then outmanoeuvred three older cousins in a contest for the throne, avoiding death twice.

Celene is an amateur scholar and her patronage of education and the arts has led to a cultural renaissance in her empire.

I would love to see Celene, and Orlais for that matter, but I doubt it will happen in DA2. DA3 maybe?

Yeah it looks pretty much exactly like the ruins at Ostagar, funny thing that.

As long as she's not too similar to Anora (To be honest however I didn't mind Anora, in fact, I quite liked her, she certainly knows how to play the political game). Though Celene once said she admires Anora and sees her as a "Solitary Rose among brambles" so I have my doubts... but by the same token, she is hinted to have had an affair with Cailan. The saucy minx! I'm kind of liking her the more I hear about her actually... I think she could potentially be a very well pulled off character, just as Anora was in a way, so long as she does not have a cheesy French accent like Isolde's.

Does Celene have an heir? Hm, could be interesting if both Ferelden and Orlais have heir-less rulers. Also, yes I think she would be a really cool character to interact with

My pet idea is that Celene and Cailan met a few times during the "negotiations" to decide whether they're "compatible" or not, and Celene ended up a good deal pregnant with his kid. Ohhh, the fun that would be.

Oh I am a fan of that idea but my personal pet concept is that she's interested in Cailan only because of his Theirin heritage. If she's not preggers with Cailan's baby, guess what other Theirin is out there for her to try to snag (provided he didn't kill the Archdemon)? Not that I am dropping hints about my some-day-will-write-it fanfiction.

Some very good thoughts here. If this is a more political game, it would only make sense to have Celene interaction.

I doubt the empress would leave her country when it is full of backstabbing and powerhungry nobles just waiting to depose her.

From what I heard, Celene was going to leave her Country to marry Cailan, and she was actually going to be in Denerim during the game, before it got cut out. So she definitely gets around, seeing her in one of the Countries that Hawke visits would be entirely possible, even if he never actually gets to Orlais, which I would definitely want him to by the way.

From what I heard Orlais goes to war a lot, I even think they attacked the Free Marches before.

So maybe we see Celene attacking with an army. Or she comes to negotiate with one of the Viscounts. Either that, or with Hawke. Seeing as how he is Champion and all.
