I'm probably off a little but I recall she took the throne at 17 sometime around the book the Calling, or after that. But I believe she's older than Cailan and Anora, but I never heard about her having any children. She's still young enough to pop some out though.
Hence the Elizabeth I reference I think.
Queen Victoria got made queen at 18 after her three older brothers dies with no legitimate heirs, Victoria didnt have that problem she had nine children and forty two grandchildren

I can just see her now. Dressed elegantly, yet still able to whoop Anora in a fight. I actually want to see it happen now.

Yeah, I meant the childless part.

I want Ladywinde's version of Empress Celene in DA2. That is just AWESOME.

She could, but it was Celene who called Anora a rose in a sea of brambles or something like that. So, Celene does have respect for Anora, somewhat. However, Celene sounds just as cut throat as Anora. She may have assassinated her Uncle and doesn't say how she out manuevered her cousins. Could have falsely imprisoned them. Anora is just stern and likes to act nice and innocent around supporters.
So, if we are talking about a fight, I would assume that Celene likely knows how to wield a sword better than the daughter of Loghain. Just a guess.

I'd imagine Celene to be smarter and more cunning. Better with a blade than Anora ever will be. But hopefully, if we ever meet her in the DA universe, she doesn't do what Anora did.
I'd rather she look sweet and innocent. We hear all these things about her that make her look like she's controlling events secretly, but we find out that no, she's pretty much in the same situation you're in. Relating to the story, at least.

I've been very curious about Empress Celene and Orlais since DAO makes so many references to them. I'd be kind of disappointed if we never get to visit Val Royeaux or see Celene before the franchise is finished.
It is pretty high on my top list of things I want to see.
1. Par Vollen (they intrigue me)
2. Rivain (to see how they lead life, without Qun or chantry)
3. Tevinter (pretty much the same as above. What is the imperial chantry like)
4. Kal'Sharok (Badass dwarves)
5. Orlais

And it's worth noting that while she respected Anora, quite possibly more than anyone else in the nation, she still may have had no problem getting rid of her to marry Cailan. Still, I can't see her wielding a sword. She has chevaliars for that, but I'm sure she plays the Game better than Anora does, which is saying something.
I bet she does. However, I bet she just plays for fun. Now that she's empress, if things need to be done, she has her Shadows for serious work.

And that she seems to have patched up foreign relations and upped the living standard for Orlais as a whole, she wouldn't have that much dissent to deal with either.

Well, ignoring the border and resource dispute that is happening between Nevarra and Orlais, sure. Orlais is still spreading dissent in that one border region that is rich in resources that Nevarra took through military might. Interesting to see how the relationship between those two nations works. Quite the rivalry with the new growing power and the old/current power being right next to each other.
Edit:
In 8:70 Blessed, a war between Nevarra and Orlais over the control of the western hills around Perendale results in Nevarran victory. However, Orlais proceeds to sow dissent and rebellion among the locals in Perendale, who resent Nevarran rule[6].
In 8:99 Blessed, dragons devastate the countrysides in Orlais and Nevarra, and all attempts to slay them end in disaster. As the Blessed Age draws to a close, they name the Dragon Age, saying that it will be an age of violence and upheaval[7].
However, it seems this is before Celene's rise to power, so nevermind?

I adore Empress Celene. She's somewhere between Katherine the Great and Elizabeth I. I think ladywinde did a fan portrait of her which is pretty awesome.
Ah, Katherine the Great you say? ...so that's why Orlais is full of horses! Er...no comment on a Celene romance, she's likely not into humans.

Scroll down a bit and look at the picture...it's astounding how much she really does look like her. She was well built as well.

We've had enough blonds for awhile, time for the brunettes to inherit the earth, er Thedas, with grace and charm.

I would also prefer a dark haired Celene. I keep invisioning her to look Roman, I guess after all I've read about Orlais I keep thinking Roman empire.
Say WHA!? You get Roman vibes from Orlais? What about French? I thought that was obvious.
