What the topic said. I haven't seen anything on the issue for days, or read any comments about a fix being in the works.
I am still playing with serious lag, I can't play fine for about 30 seconds then I wait for another 30-60 seconds to move again. It is very frustrating. I want to play this game and actually enjoy it, instead I am fighting growing frustration that I spent $50 to get a pretty case with a coaster in it.
I have updated video drivers, tried older drivers to see if the new one messed the game up. I have checked all my other drivers. I changed the games affinity to one CPU, it just clogs that one up to 100% and the lag seems worse, not better. I have tried many other "fixes" in desperation, but nothing seems to help at all. I am sure there are still some people out there that are having the same issue, unless it magically got fixed and I missed it somehow.
I have heard that it is a memory leak (which makes sense) and saw a message once from Bioware, on or around Saturday, saying they had no idea what was causing it, but nothing since.
Any fix in the works for the 100% CPU usage?

I had serious issues with slow down only in cut-scenes and it froze my game. This was after playing since launch perfectly. I did so many work-arounds that finally it worked again for me.
I suggest, if you have the developer chest added to your camp that is posted on these forums, to not use it. Uninstall the game, only check keep save games and un-check the settings option. Install again, go into options in the game and turn off all uploads to your profile, this includes screenshots etc. Download any DLC again as well. Then load up your save game. This has worked for me, but I had to do uninstall twice for the lag to go away.

That is a new list of things to try, thanks.
I don't have the developer chest yet, I wanted to have a stable game before I started adding to the already buggy game.

I also get the 100% cpu usage, as do many many many others it seems. The problem is not all of us are having issues with it. I can play the game fine, I get no issues whatsoever, I just noticed when alt tabbed that it consumes my entire cpu, so I came on the forums to read about it since it might be an issue.
I believe many of the crash threads is really caused by the cpu usage.

Hrm..would be a shame if it was the chest..as I don't really need it but installed it anyways..
I have not had bag lag but my load times seemed to increase and there were some pockets of slowdown...Id hate to uninstall and reinstall this game..takes too long..
Why would the mod cause problems?
Also, I have read some topics in the past on the net bout cpu usage at 100% and if I remember correctly..this was normal..???

Should post your dxdiag information here to see what you have on your system. Just saying that you having 100% CPU usages, change drivers or what not doesn't help anyone see what you are seeing.

Can we get a list from everyone here with the problem? Specifically:
CPU ( Brand/ Speed/ OverClocked or Not )
RAM ( Speed and quantity if known )
Video Card (also what driver version is installed)
Sound Card (also what driver version is installed)
Motherboard model if known
OS (also whether it is 64bit or 32bit)
Install method used ( Steam, Impulse, EADM, DVD, etc )
If there is any Virus Protection, Backup, or other active monitoring software installed, including the software names and versions if possible.
That would be a pretty good start. I would like to see if it is at least possible to narrow down the problem. If everyone having the issue submits that information it would greatly increase the chance of that happening and thus the possibility of finding a fix. Thanks!

Good point, but the DxDiags are huge and will clutter the thread up big time. If at all possible, host it somewhere for download instead.

I've got the same problem.
It occurred for me while I was in Ozrimmar.
I've got a Nvidia Quadro FX 570M
Annoying as **** but it comes and goes.

Didnt have any issue so far (although during playing my CPU was at 100% too) but now I noticed that sometimes my game will freeze, mostly during a conversation, the screen will go black but the game still runs until my next dialogue input choice. I can alt-tab out and back into the game and it will continue but it is annoying regardless.

i suffer from this as well, iv tried putting graphics on low but that doesnt help at all.
my game suffers from stuttering,
Some times game will freeze/ or close down without warning,
(occasional) very long loading screens,
pauses after an NPC says a sentence for it to load the next bit of speech,
alt + tab takes ages to minimize and load another program such as internet browser,
and of course the CPU usage is always around 97-100%
my system is:
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual, core processor 4200+, 2.21 GHz
RAM - 2 GB
HARD DRIVE - 300 GB
OS - XP home edition, service pack 3
GRAPHICS - NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
SOUND - NVIDIA sound.. thing..
drivers for sound and graphics unknown. but i updated them a month ago or so.
any help would be great!

@ Ofelion Your problem is the GPU... technically Quadro cards are configured for business applications and are not on the supported device list

AMD Turion X2 Processor@ 2.0GHz
ATI Radeon HD 3200 w/256 VRAM
2 gigs of RAM DDR2@400Mhz
SoundMax HD Integrated audio.
Definately not a gaming laptop but playable none the less. My performance (according to fraps) is a playable (in my opinion) 20 fps.

I've got the 100% CPU problem as well.
Here's my system Specs.
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+
RAM: 2Gigs of DDR2 (can't remember the speed)
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS (Driver Version 191.07 (the latest))
Sound Card: Realtek ALC888 Integrated Sound (Driver version: 5.10.0.5324)
Motherboard: Biostar TFORCE 550 SE
OS: Win XP Home Edition: Service Pack 3
While this may not be a high end gaming computer, it sure should be able to run the first menu without maxing both processors at 100%
Not much else running in the background except Norton, but even turning all the scanning off does not seem to have any effect on the CPU usage. Nor does my graphics settings or anything I can think of. I hope this helps debug the issue, as it's keeping me from playing the game as my box overheats after an hour or so of playing, and I'm worried about causing serious damage to the system...

Scrub try setting core affinity to your 2nd core only

I also have 100% cpu usage, but I don't have problems unless some background program kicks in. Windows 7 is quite fond of this. I got the problem around once every 30 mins, but lately I can play without lag.
this helped for me:
Make sure background defrag is not running
Make sure offline files is not doing stuff.
It could also be that other programs or services are doing stuff to your computer (virus scanner etc). On normal games they would use the unnused cpu cycles, in this game they force the game to use less cpu cycles, hence the slowdowns..
What I do to diagnose is running the performance monitor on the background. As soon as I get a stutter, I alt-tab to it and look at the cpu usage of other programs and services and also the average cpu usage of other programs and services. This helps you identify the culprit.

maybe that's why core affinity has helped some and not others

Thanks Jiron that did help to give me an option to play the game sometimes.
But I'm still hearing those fans blowing away, so I don't know how much I'll play. (As much as I really want to.)

if you're worried about it, take the side panel off your computer and clean out the dust (canned air only) you might also leave the side off
I do and I have internal temps that are only about 10 F warmer than the ambient air (between 66 and 74 F)

I'm having the same issues you guys are referring to as well except my game runs fine at near max settings for about 10-20 minutes, then all of a sudden after a cutscene or a change of area the game will take a dump and drop down to like 3-4 fps.
I'm on windows 7 ultimate x64
I'm thinking it's gotta be a memory leak of some sort

I too have the 100% issue, but it doesn't seem to be causing any issues for me, except in some graphically intensive spots, or when turning fast.
