After a LOT of noodling around, I have finally found a fight.  It's the one where you enter the Warrens with the beggar.  Is this really supposed to be my first fight of the game?  Is it really supposed to be this difficult?  I won't rule out that my choice of character might have to do with it.  I am a drow, so I am already giving up two levels and my character is a rogue 3/wizard 3 on my way to arcane trickster.  I see where this is probably not the best choice for a big fight right out of the gate.  I also have the Half-elf rogue and the fallen paladin guy with me.  I can't remember where that girl I met at the temple said she would be.  I couldn't find her after that first conversation.  Is there somewhere else I can go to get this adventure rolling or do I just need to give it up and play a more combat worthy character?

If you have SoZ installed then you can use this mod to allow the Party Editor to be used in MoW. Then you can summon in some temporary help. I'd do that before throwing in the towel on your main PC character.

I just bumped my xp up to make myself 8th level and managed to get past it. Combat is sparse, but challenging so far. I think I like it.

Combat in MoW is a step-up from what you'd find in the other campaigns, yes. Some of the fights in the gladiatorial arena are particularly challenging. Often you'll have to make use of careful preparations or battlefield positioning to win.

Definitely. Every fight means something and every fight is a challenge. I've had to refight almost every one so far but that's cool. It has made things really interesting. I'm surprised this module doesn't get more love here.

No romances. That's why. XD

But seriously, I believe it's because it came out too late, when much of the NWN2 playerbase had already moved on to other games.

Too bad. This is quickly becoming my favorite module available on NWN2. I love the city scene. It keeps the adventure compact and avoids long hikes and cutting through endless swarms of the same orcs and crap. Like we've discussed, every fight is a challenge and it means something. Levelling up is pretty fast so that's cool. I'm a real sucker for chasing the carrot of level advancement. I don't have any idea how far along I am, but I will definitely come back and weigh in once I have finished.

You're right, MoW is a great module.

If you liked that aspect:

It keeps the adventure compact and avoids long hikes and cutting through endless swarms of the same orcs and crap. Like we've discussed, every fight is a challenge and it means something.

Be sure to also check another creation of one of MoW's authors, Tiberius: The Maimed Gods Saga. There is no meaningless combat there and all the locations are kept compact so you know immediately where you're headed when you're travelling (well, maybe except the huge manor - your base through a large portion of the game).

It is an excellent, underrated module. Ossian does good work. I'm not surprised you had trouble with a rogue3/wizard3 by the way. It's not combat oriented as you pointed out. It's better suited to utility unless specifically built to be a dual wielding dervish o' death. Even then it's a late bloomer. You might want to play through MoW twice by the way. The evil path has some marked differences and you only get a complete picture of the story by trying both routes.

It sure is an underrated module.  It's the first one that has yet to become a chore.  I did alright once I cheated up to character level 8 to match my cohorts.  Getting that 5th level of wizard and a good old fashioned fireball in my arsenal helped to make things a little more even.  I'll definitely play through at least twice more because my evil character chose to work for the church of Lathander which just didn't make sense.  So I am going around acting evil, but I'm sort of on the good path, (I think)  I don't really care though.  I am having a great time with this module.  I can live with multiple play throughs.  I also want to add that 8th level is a great place to start.  It's just high enough to where you see your character taking shape a little bit, but not so high that you feel like you skipped over 15 of the best years of his or her adventuring career.

She should be in The Black Eye Tavern in the Harbor Loop.
