So I just got the points to buy Witch Hunt, Liliana's Song, and the Golems DLC but after downloading them and installing them in game and everything the game tells me they aren't authorized.

How the heck can they not be authorized?  I bought them with my EA games account, which is the exact same account I use ingame for DA:O?

It's the same thing whether I'm logged in or not, so I essentially just wasted $20 unless theres a permanent fix for this, really wants to make me buy more DLC if so far the EA store just takes your money and runs.

When I go to my Available DLC tab, it shows all the DLC I had just bought and installed, as if I HAD NOT bought them.  When I click the refresh points option, they dissapear and then in my installed DLC tab it shows them all as authorized.  Problem solved, right?  Wrong.

When I click new game, it tells me the DLC isn't authorized again, and when I go back into my installed DLC tab, it says they aren't authorized.

I recall having this problem before, but it was a couple MONTHS ago.  I can't remember how exactly I fixed it, but I think the problem originated from uninstalling/reinstalling the game (Using Steam, BTW).  Trouble is while my past DLC works like a charm, the new DLC I just bought doesn't.

I don't have this problem at all in any other titles such as Mass Effect 2, so why is Dragon Age's DLC think riddled with bugs that steal money from you?

(If I sound angry, well I am.  I had this problem before, and bioware/EA still hasen't seemed to fix it, and now $20 has been basically stolen from me until I can get it to work...)

...So is there a way to fix this or should I contact EA support and ask them to give me my $20 back?

heres an update.

I tried running the DA:O service, and when I log into the game it'll tell me the DLC isn't available for purchase/download, but it'll tell me it's unauthorized. Basically it's telling me "Thanks for buying it, sucker!"

It is likely the service is actually still pointing to the old install location (was not correctly uninstalled/re-installed) so the game can't actually talk to it and authorize the content.

This thread has instructions to verify that (and correctly uninstall/re-install the service): social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/81613

Let us know if that worked.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm sure the updater isn't pointing to an old path, since DA:O always installs to the same place with Steam.  And it's not all my DLC acting up: Only the DLC I recently bought.

Ah, misread - thought you went from steam to/from retail. Still, majority of the auth issues are down to the updater not firing up correctly which that thread will help with. A quick check is while the game is running to see if the DA updater service is also running, if not you may need to set to automatic.

If that is still not the issue you can try to log out and re-login. Or manually re-install the dlc (grab it from your registered game promotions page here on social). Failing that you can try to delete your profile.dap file in your my docs/ ... / settings - this will force all dlc to re-auth (you'll need to login for this).

Hope that helps.

Oh hey, what do you know...Deleting the profile.dap file worked.  It's always the simple solutions that elude you, it seems.

Thanks for the help!

Well it happened again, this time I haven't done anything. No new dlc or patches....
