What are the consequences of disabling hyperthreading?  If I do it, what bad things are going to happen to my computer??

If I try this and it solves the problem, will I have to reboot my computer, enable/disable this hyperthreading in the bios, each time I want to start/stop a game of NWN?

I have still not been able to play NWN since getting a new computer (dual core) and Win 7.  It does play, but at an incredibly slow frame rate.

That question is about Windows, not about NWN. You need to visit "Annoyances" or an equivalent OS Help site, such as Microsoft's.

Critical Process, I'm having the same problem as you. That and my CPU Usage is at 50%
I've done everything from fresh install, to messing with the cpu affinity, turning a core off, and it's still unplayable.
I have an HP Pavilion
AMD Turion Dual Core Mobile M260 at 2.5 GHz
and ATI Radeon M880g with HD 4200
and running Window 7.
Any new ideas would greatly help.

Hey just fixed the problem by installing the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. Some older games aren't compatible with the libraries included with current releases of DirectX. I'm running at full speed, no problems. I hope this helps, criticall process

How can I... I'm not sure what that all means actually.

Have you rolled back to an older version of Direct X? Does that mean your computer can't run newer games now?

If you can now run NWN1 and also can still run newer games, can someone tell me how he did that?

My thanks for sure!
