The vault is so big, the entire internet even bigger so... what about creating a thread where people can suggest to other people which modifications are useful or interesting?
A way to improve camera mode, or some meshes to create elven faces that actually look like elves and not like humans splattered against a wall and removed from it by attaching a rope at their ears...
Something like that... a better interface, a glitch patch, a plug in for the toolset... Just the name, the link and a brief description of what it does.

What do you think about this? :)

Try this

http://nwvault.ign.c...l.Detail&id=178

for some more interesting heads and hair (see my avatar). There is a lot of neat stuff there, though probably not as much as you (or I) would wish.I hope I have not insulted you by telling you things you already knew.

We are all holding our breath for your new avatar.

For a better interface, more clean, I like this one:
SlimGUI by Sliders.
I like the green version myself.

My complete list of advised mods can be found here.

@Sieben: oh, don't worry, why I should feel insulted? I think that many people, like me, who have started playing the game with a big delay, can be totally lost in the vastness of the vault. And of curse, you can't try EVERYTHING. So, for everyone who is interested in this, if we collect the suggestions in a single thread, the list could be extremely useful! ^^

Maybe in the future I could modify my first post to include a list!

Before starting my game, I had downloaded a set of faces for female drow... but of course, the link is in my other computer (the one without gpu... I am starting to become EXTREMELY angry for this huge delay!)... As soon as it would be running again, I would add my links. ... and my avatar!!! Usually I put Viconia portrait from BG2, but I can't wait to show you all my PC, so you would see my beloved Vaalyah! ^^

@ Haplose: I see you have a big list! Is there a way to have some more quick option in the game screen? ie: in NWN I could put my 2 swords in the same slot, so, for equipping my PC with the double hand style, I just have to press a button. Now I can't find a way to put both of my swords in the same slot...

Sure, just drag your right-hand weapon to a slot, then drag your left-hand weapon to the same slot. Works the same for sword and shield; drag the sword first, then the shield to the same slot. Is that what you meant?

I did that, but in the end, just the second sword stayed in the slot :-(

I don't know, I've never seen that. Is one of the swords a two-handed weapon? Is your PC a small race (halfling, gnome) who has to use a normal weapon with both hands?

Well, I created a lady drow, gave her two bastard swords and had no problem equipping them two-handed by putting them both in the same quick bar slot. The solution to this problem will have to await someone more learned than I.

Or maybe it is just a matter of "version". I am unable to patch the game regularly, due to the dimension of the file and my dreadful internet connection. I asked a friend to download the patch for me. Now I have to install them. Maybe the patch would fix the problem!

Thank you for your effort! ^^

I think that inability to dual wield was an issue at one time and was corrected in a patch. Once you are patched I'm sure you will enjoy the game more. Although in some patches they did alter appearances in ways that did not receive universal praise.

As far as mods go, biased I may be, but after struggling through the OC I developed the OC Makeover to address what I felt were weaknesses in the game that reduced player choices. I also corrected a few of the glaring mistakes and added some of the SoZ features. If you have MotB and SoZ and you prefer more control over your party members, I recommend the OC Makeover SoZ Edition. By design it requires no haks, alters no 2da files, and is installed in the campaign folder rather than the override folder, so it should be compatible with most mods to the OC and not interfere with 3rd party campaigns/modules.

That's a problem. I don't have SoZ and I don't want to buy it. The problem is that I don't like having all party members made by me. I do love free "interactions" with NPCs in a RPG, so SoZ (similarly to Ice Wind Dale series) has not attractive for me :-(

Is there a version for just OC + MotB?

You don't HAVE to create a party in Soz. You can use joinable companions available for recruitment...

There are plenty of those.

They just don't have quite the depth of OC or MotB characters.

Hmmm... maybe this could change my opinion about SoZ... I suppose that, after finishing MotB, I should ask info to decide if it could be an interesting buy...

Quite frankly, I think SoZ is a "must have" for your NWN2 experience.  It offers many new options for play style and with all the new modules coming out, you'll need it.

I'd like to know how compatable the SlimUI is with SoZ.

You can try to install the Makeover without installing SoZ, but I have no idea if it would work and I don't have any plans to support it that way. It is free though, so little harm in trying. I suggest you make a backup of your campaign folder before installing the makeover just in case you want an easy uninstall.

The SoZ cohorts in SoZ have very little dialogue. They are not as chatty as the OC companions. But they do have unique backgrounds and items.

Regardless, since many modders assume you have SoZ it is worth getting if you plan on using mods.

Sure it's compatible. There are installation options for OC+MotB only and for SoZ versions. Also optional support for Tony_K's AI mod (I guess for the drop-down menus which let you select weapons/shields of choice).
And there are several different installation options too. Like I wrote, I like the green one, with Big Bag Inventory 2 (too bad no inventory Tetris included :) ), small party member avatars and, of course, big NPC portraits for non-cutscene conversations.
Have much more screen estate this way, easier time managing my inventory, better image of NPCs I'm talking with and the general feel of a more streamlined interface. The default "stony" one feels very heavy and clumsy to me. Oh and the minimap is better too.

The only compatibility problem I've had so far was when one module I played - I think Misery Stone - used a mod to display contents of books/journals as... well... on-screen books. I've only had blank pages there. But this happened only with one module so far.

With regards to camera movement am I correct in assuming that the game has to access the code on the HDD? The reason I ask is that since installing a teeny weeny SSD to boot Windoze and play NWN2 camera movement is silky smooth and fast.

@Mokah: I know it is needed for mods and modules, but from everything I read around it seems that I would not find it amusing at all... Maybe, if I find it on sale at a good price, I could buy it just for installing and having the features, I mean, not for playing...

I have to reflect about that. However, from what I read, I just need to patch my toolset for being able to use those feature while modding (even if I can't play them).

Sorry for the digression, let's return in topic! :-P

Thanks, O wily owl, a RAM upgrade seems to be the way to go for better camera control. Well worth the expense to get rid of the camera lag I was experiencing before.
