Ok, seeing as how this is still a rampant problem (I think), and I found very little to calm my frustrations, I will go ahead and post my story here for others, as I just now, FINALLY, got my Blight-Queller trophy to pop.

On my first play through (with patch 1.01 I believe) - in April, I got the Master Warden trophy during the final battle.

I figured I'd be golden getting the Blight-Queller on the next play through...  I was wrong.

Took 2 more characters through (never amassing near 1000 kills, always about 500 a run), and focusing on only having the PC make the kills, I got frustrated.  Bought Awakening, thinking I could get to 1000 this way.  I did - no trophy.  We're in patch 1.03 now I believe.

Tried running Dwarf Origin for the 500 kills I thought I needed - didn't work.

Did the same for the Alienage - didn't work.

Here's what I figure, seeing as how I restarted last night (walked away from the game in July - picked it up again last night just to try).

I had all the DLC installed (not Song, Golems, or Hunt), as well as the Armor and Awakening bonus.  I did not remove any game content or patches.  I am connected to the servers.  I have Master Warden.  All kills were made by the PC.

I first counted saves prior to the patch and included them with the characters kill count.  I amassed 1018 kills (pre-patch and after patch combined) and still no pop.  I then read that the patches reset counters - Ugh! Image IPB

I reopened a save in the Alienage and started anew.  I used a Templar Warrior with the AoE ability Smite (instant kill on easy dudes - can knock down others).  Repeating the quest again and again (I saved after each successful run and tracked all kills regardless), and starting with 275 kills from the night before, with the current character, I amassed 920 kills from the alienage until the pop, all of which came after installing the patch last night.  Of those, 542 came from today in succession (after I read that turning off the PS3 might reset the counter).

As far as I can tell, when you're exploiting the Alienage for kills, turning off the PS3 (or even leaving the game), will reset the kill counter back to what the character had at the time of the save.  Kills might be stored in a "short-term memory" type of place on the PS3 that is wiped when turned off.  Therefore, it is HIGHLY reccommended you attempt the exploit in one grueling sitting.

Seeing as how my character came into the Alienage with 465 kills and needed 542 to pop the 1000 kill trophy, there is a slight difference of 7 kills.  I attribute this to either another character getting a kill when I accidentally activated them during combat, or using the AoE to obtain my final kills (I paused the game and looked at the kill count as soon as the trophy popped).  7, in the scheme of things, is a rather small give or take.

So, I figure, the kills are not across characters (again, I have all patches installed), you must obtain them with a single character (does NOT have to be your first one), the Alienage trick DOES work (just don't turn off the PS3), and having the DLC installed has no effect (but pretty sure DLC kills don't count, unless the patches ACTUALLY do reset the counters - and if this was true, I would have needed 80 more kills unless I missed 2 runs and am misreading my notes [both likely Image IPB]).

Sorry it's lengthy, but this trophy really pissed me off and I felt that my carefully tracked exploits might be helpful to another poor soul out there in "glitch" land (which I don't believe it is anymore, you just have to know the mechanics of "short term memory").

Huzzah for a well-earned Plat for me!  Image IPB
