Why do people hate popular stuff?

World of Warcraft
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Star Wars (fans used to get called nerds when it first came out, from what I've heard)
Star Trek
Stargate Universe
Twilight
Warhammer
Warhammer 40,000
StarCraft II (Battle.net 2.0 does suck, but the actual gameplay is average)
Halo
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Dungeons & Dragons
American Idol
Xbox/Xbox 360 (I admit, I kind of hate Xbox, since it ruined gaming)
Justin Beiber (this is justified by the fact that he's 16 and hasn't hit puberty)
Hannah Montana

what's with the crappy poetry with metaphors that make zero sense? also, what's with the eyeliner, dyed hair, and the act of being depressed? i guess emo kids want to try coming off as having problems all the time. they also want to make people think they come from dark and mysterious places. the truth is they're spoiled brats whose mommy molly-coddles and buys them whatever they want, whether or not it is deserved.
then there's the act of crying in public. gawd, if there was ever a time for some public humiliation.....that is the best time for it! for the emo guys, women already have a vagina. they don't need another.

i hate the all too common trend of pansy dudes who wear tight pants and eye liner, and dye their hair black, and act depressed 24/7. tight pants BELONG ON (CUTE) FEMALES ONLY! what's the point of wearing tight pants if you're going to make a horrible attempt at sagging them? you know where that sagging trend comes from, right?
Bet you're glad you missed the 80s hair band craze, eh?

You should start giving more attention to other companies so Google doesn't have a monopoly!

Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 - Same again, It basically controlled my friends life. It's also another average game, the only good thing about it was the voice cast. The multiplayer was basically unchanged. The story (although adrenaline packed) was terrible.
Twilight - I don't see what the fuss about the film is, sure if you're a thirteen year old girl I guess it's justified, I thought the film was aimed towards young teens anyway. But seeing middle-aged people rave about the film is a little unsettling to me.
Warhammer - I enjoyed painting warhammer figurines and that's it, I never even attempted to learn how to play. It's too much effort to learn to play a game.
Halo - Average game, people keep on saying it's a dark and gritty game, but I couldn't take those tiny triangle shaped aliens seriously. They look ridiculous.
Facebook - People hate facebook?
American Idol - Well, some of the auditions are funny. But after that it just get's dull, people's stories are clearly fake to win over votes. It becomes a popularity contest instead of a talent show. Plus all the winners are clones of the previous years winner.
Google - People hate google?
Justin Beiber - Maybe people hate him because he has become popular for no apparent reason. Seriously, where did he come from? I never heard of him a few months ago and all of a sudden he's the biggest pop star this year...
Hannah Montana - Not aimed towards adults, a radio DJ I listen to every morning is obsessed with her. All the attention she's getting is going to ruin her.

i was born in 1983. hair bands were also very pansy and the dudes in those crappy bands wearing make-up have unresolved issues with their sexuality. i'm so glad kurt cobain came along with nirvana and put the final nail in the coffin for hair metal.

I hated popular stuff way before it was popular to hate popular stuff.

But some do also hate some popular things that suddenly blast into popularity because they tend to be watered down and dull, easy to digest for masses, which they dislike. And when people mindlessly rave about it it rubs them in wrong way and turns that dislike into full hate.

Second - "popular" means "hypnotoaded into someone's head", some people understand it
my explanation is absolutely the same as the post above

It seems like every time something goes mainstream a group of people automatically start hating it. Sometimes the hate is justified, sometimes it isn't. But what is the point? Why can't people just respect other people's interests?
So people disliking popular things is disrespecting others interests?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The reason I hate this one. Because it is the continuation of the Modern Warfare series that completely ruined everything I loved about the original two CODs.
Stargate Universe
I dislike this one because it isn't what I've come to love from Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
I don't care about this one because it looks like a carbon copy of MW2. (Kind of like how WaW was a copy of COD4)
Xbox/Xbox 360 (I admit, I kind of hate Xbox, since it ruined gaming)
Um, how has it ruined gaming?

nah, give him a few years and everybody will hear about how he was found in a hotel room strung out on cocaine, and with either a male or tranny hooker.
