Alliance vs. Cerberus

I was talking with my brother and said, "I don't think the Alliance is any better than Cerberus."
He replies, "That's a matter of opinion."
Yeah, Cerberus has done some really bad experiments and gotten a bad reputation...
But my Shepard feels like the Alliance hasn't supported him at all only some people and if he is working for Cerberus, they think he's a traitor.
Interesting...

Thankfully with Kasumi's greybox I'll shatter Alliance in ME3.
Hopefully crush Cerberus too.

Still i guess if i got pressed i would prefer the Alliance over Cerberus for the simple reason that the Alliance is a member of the Council - who by themselves are not perfect, But they do represent the broadest commune of races so far in the game.
Though my hope is that Shepard gets a chance to start his own new faction in ME 3 (like Sheridan did in Babylon 5).

Cerberus is convinced that they need Shepard, so they resurrect him. Since Shepard is dead he can't consent to these experiments, so resurrecting Shepard is no better than what Cerberus did to David Archer, Jack, etc.
And whilst Cerberus does fund Shepard's fight against the Collectors they also are also willing to torture hundreds of children to death to make a super-biotic.
How far are you willing to go to win this war?

Given the choice, I'm going back to the Alliance.

We're the only ones doing anything against the Reapers. Everyoone else is living a futuristic fantasy. I don't blame them, but sometimes you just have to wake up and smell the charred remains.
Cerberus has done some sick things, but...
1) Pragia facility: Thanks to that rougue research, Cerberus can turn Shepard into a super Biotic (remember charge?).
2) Overlord: A failsafe if Legion is lying for the more cautious player.
3) Reaper Human: It backfired, but it wasn't they're fault. The traitor had it coming too.
Cerberus also saved humanity and are ready to face the Reapers when they arrive. What are the Alliance doing? Playing video games in Arcturus Station?
The Council has they're heads up they're freaking asses too.
I don't have the time to run around the galaxy swaying them. Nor I care either. I have in my side...
a) The Krogan (saved Wrex and kept genophage cure research)
c) The Geth (Activated Legion and rewrited Heretics)
d) The Quarians (Have to convince them of not going to war if I want the Geth)
e) Aria? She seems like a potential ally... I guess....
f) Cerberus (kept Cerberus intel for myself just in case and Kept Collector Base)
Once the Reapers show up, I'll have my army ready. The other races can come too if they wise up before I kick the Reaper's sorry asses.
But if the other races don't help, I'll be turning my army against the council and Terminus sistems. They aren't fit to rule. They can't abandon the galaxy and expect to keep power (what if it happens again?).

The Alliance does it's share of questionable things such as starting Cerberus and telling them to start places like Pragia.Anacronian Stryx wrote...
The Alliance has done it's share of questionable things as well like "Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training" (BAaT) and Berzerker satellites.
Cerberus didn't become 'rogue' until shortly before ME1 started. The backstory of atrocities? Alliance responsibility as well.

I've destroyed the Collector base. The Illusive Man got mad. So I left Cerberus. Maybe the Council will finally belive that the Reaper threat is real. Hope Liara will help me to convince the Alliance to take to fight to the Reapers. And maybe Cerberus and the Alliance will join forces... I think that the only way to defeat the Reapers is if all races in the galaxy will unite against them.

Or Cerberus going far beyond its mandate caused them to be declared rogue. We don't have enough information on the sequence of events. Alliance creation would still make them the Alliance's responsbility to clean up, of course.

LOL, you didn't take an oath of loyalty to the council. I'm sure as an alliance solider, like all military soldiers, you took an oath to defend the alliance.
Thankfully I'm a renegade, and my oaths mean squat. Cerberus all the way.

I'm with Mariah5 on this one. My allegiance is to the Citadel Council and all races under its banner.

Sheppard is still an alliance soldier after he becomes a spectre. Hackett says as much when he gives you N7 missions, and on the shadow broker dossier, it refereces your apparant desertion of the council/alliance to work with cerberus and as far as I can tell, you're still referenced by your alliance rank of commander. So by not being loyal to the alliance, you're breaking your oath to them. Unless you did what i did and killed the old council and stuffed them with humans.

But as the story in ME2 was I belive Shepard did the only thing he could when choosing the only real option to save the dissapearing colonies. After that is done however Cerberus has become a liability and must be removed.

A galactic superpower in the making or 150 redshirts led by a man with a messiah complex? No one in the ME universe have clean hands but the Alliance is simply stronger than Cerberus.

Cerberus does the messy stuff so the alliance can keep their hands relatively clean. They're not mutually exclusive, and the apparant antagonism only flows one way, not the other.

I guess in the grand scheme I'm loyal to humanity, and both sides that claim to speak for them.
For those loyal to the Council do you mind if I ask why? What have they done to earn your loyalty?
