She CAN predict the future, and she sees something that will rock Dragon age to the core.
Well, they could just be vague predictions that a writer tossed in there which could potentially be ascribed to anything in the future. Which makes us look prescient, like we had it planned all along.
Or it could be about something specific. And you will see Eleni again.
Scary, huh?
The other things about prophecies that irk me is that they ruin the tension and the story. A good example is Oedipus. I had to read it for an English course. I thought it might have been an interesting book, but the minute I heard that an oracle said to Oedipus' father that he would be killed by his own son, I threw the book away. Why? Because they pretty much gave me the ending right then and there. I found no point in reading the book anymore. The whole point of a tragedy or any other story is that you're supposed to be surprised. Prophecies ruin that, and take away any sort of surprise you might have. It's like telling the ending of a movie to a friend of yours when he was just about to see it.
The point I'm trying to make is that prophecies, for me, seem like a cheap and fast way of explaining what's going to happen in the future. It doesn't matter how cryptic it is. It also makes people who are not religious feel somewhat discouraged. Wasn't the whole point that we don't know if the Maker exists or not? That we don't really know if Andraste was really the Maker's Chosen, or just a powerful mage? That Andraste's Ashes were really divine, or if there was indeed a strong presence of lyrium that gave it immeasureable healing powers? That way, neither religious or non-religious people are hurt or discouraged (I'm an Agnostic; basically, I'm open to religion, but not 100% certain that it's true). Prophecies not only disappoint and discourage, but also make clear that there is a higher, divine power. Basically, in a way, from what I'm thinking, you just confirmed that the Maker or the Old Gods are/were actualy deities.
I don't know whether you agree or not, but that's my opinion. I'm not saying to not do it, just thought I'd offer my perspective on the situation.
