I got it right when I left Warden's Keep on my first playthrough and made a 2 hander for my warrior/templar.
I kept getting my keester handed to me and I wanted to try out a mage so I started over and am having alot more fun this go around.
I can't get the Super Metal random encounter to save my freakin life. I've gotten so many different random encounters and can't get that one. I also can't get back into Lothering as it has a skull and crossbones on it. I guess they abandoned it?
It's getting really frustrating. I've been going from place to place and not getting any encounter for the most part.
Any help?
A friend of mine is almost done with his first complete playthrough and hasn't gotten the encounter? I really want that damn super metal so I can get star fang.
Anyway to assure the Super Metal random encounter?

According to the CE Guide the Starmetal encounter is only for Plains destinations. So try go between those type of locations.
I got both my encounters heading to Lake Calenhed Docks (the area leading to mages tower). You can have your friend spam traveling to that location. Might or might not work.

Lothering gets nuked, yes. I got the encounter very early the first game, while naturally travelling between destinations to get stuff done. I think it's just down to luck. Kinda wish I had gotten it later; I didn't realize at that tiem that it was basically the best weapon, no more upgrades or 'oo, cool new sword!' once you get it.

What constitutes "plains" destinations?
