And, it also appears that Liara has the best romance. Garrus is considered to be the best squadmate.

I'm not surprised.  I'm an avid Kaidan fangirl, but I still have to concede that Liara has the best romance now that LotSB has been released.  I hope that all the romanceable characters get such a good treatment by the time the series ends.  (I think Bioware could probably even manage it for Jacob.  Probably.)

Garrus - best friend / squadmate ? (I know nothing about Garrus romance sorry :) ) I agree I don't remember how I voted but it was 9 for Garrus or something like that.
Liara beated Tali - nothing special after that what we got in LotSB, it's nice to see Liara as more popular character (I know most of people [or just part] gave Liara better note because of "wow I got great romance scene in the end of DLC - 10 for you Liara !"... /cough) than before DLC. I hope 'popularity' of Kaidan and Ashley will rise after 'VS DLC' which I think will be next DLC for ME2.

I have just split off the female votes from the entire survey. You can see the results in a separate dcoument on Google Docs.

Anyways, here are the results from the ladies:

Mordin - 8.32
Garrus - 8.09
Wrex - 7.97
Legion - 7.93
Kaidan - 7.61
Kasumi - 7.52
Thane - 7.28
Liara - 7.27
Samara - 7.03
Tali - 6.78
Ashley - 6.55
Jack - 6.52
Grunt - 6.45
Miranda - 6.04
Zaeed - 5.46
Jacob - 3.84
Morinth - 3.37

Surprised to see that Mordin has pounced even Garrus this time around. Let's see for the guys, shall we?

I'm female too, and she's my favorite character in the second game.  I'll be very put out if she's not on my team in the last game.

I'm actually a bit surprised that more lady gamers don't like Miri.

Must be the "bond girl" looks, because she's actually someone you can befriend as a FemShep. Just have to get past those initial "ice queen" convos. Of course, the camera angles were all chosen with MaleShep in mind, so it may bring to mind that your FemShep is ogling her assets every chance she gets... Image IPB

Kasumi and Samara too, make potential platonic pals for FemShep, IMO.

Honestly, what puzzles me most at this point is the inconsistency between the female and male averages for Mordin. Everything else appears explainable... but in past surveys, there was little to no difference between the female and male averages for Mordin. This time, however, Mordin's average for males has actually fallen. Anyone care to theorize?

I'd be interested to see the mode breakdown between genders, because I suspect that females tend to scale higher than males.

Some more points:

- One of the problems with the study is distinguishing between saying "I like this character as a person" and "I like this character as a character." For example, if Miranda and Morinth existed in real life, I certainly would never want anything to do with them, but I believe they are well-written characters. Likewise I didn't dislike Jacob because he's a bad person, but because his character was written badly.

- Garrus and Wrex are the most consistently well-liked characters. I wonder if this due to the fact that they are both very masculine, "badass" type characters. "Sensitive" characters like Kaidan seem to be less popular.

- Poor Jacob - his most frequent rating by women was 1.0. He and Morinth should get together as the most disliked characters - both are the only characters with a positive skew value.

It makes sense to me, why not really admire a strong confident woman? Everyone has role models (well most) and they tend to be the people they want to be like. :)

I havent romanced Mir yet, but she is my 2nd fave after Liara. At first i was like hmm, this chic has damage, then as the game went on i found i really liked her character.

Ehhh, I don't really like Miranda that much because her character is so inconsistent that it starts to seem like there are six of them running around.

Also I find it very hard to sympathize with her like I can with Jack/Tali.

Now, try to give the same survey, but outside of the bioware forums but somewhere with a large population with people. You might get some different results. This place is where all of the fans of each character are all gathered and spread apart in different groups.

Go to a place where there would be a whole mix of different opinions. That would be interesting.

LOL. It's called complexity. Her character traits draw her in different directions. She's Renegade, but she also has compassion. She is confident in her abilities, but emotionally a bit insecure. She's cool and aloof but very loyal to those she comes to trust. Real people tend to be like that. Most other characters are one-dimensional in comparison.

BTW, I also feel like a weirdo:
I dislike Garrus and Wrex, and I can barely stand Tali's romance (for the record: I'm a man).

Go Liara!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see us Wrex fans still love Wrex, even if Bioware gave him the shaft.

I didn't really see anything that complex in Miranda. Her personality on the introduction level/Freedom's progress was interesting but it just seems to vanish after you get on the Normandy and she starts politely answering your questions while she was overly hostile to you beforehand. Also her leaving TIM during the Collector Base just felt too sudden because there was no build-up whatsoever to her having any sort of dislike/trust of Cerberus.

fake edit: @Kraidy: Hey, at least Wrex got the best cameo :P

If Wrex is still a cameo in ME3, at least make him to be one of the most freaking epic cameos in gaming history please.

I prefer Wrex as the head of the Krogan race. He's a leader now, not just one of Shep's team.

Okay, guys, back to discussing the numbers. This is not a thread about comparing characters to one another (unless it involves the numbers at hand).

Jacob and Kaidan just continue the tradition of being the leading male character that is always loathed by the majority of the fanbase in Bioware RPGs.

What about Anders?  I liked Anders, maybe they're getting better.
