This will be lost on those under 30ish but....

Remember Command and Conquer by Westwood Studios?

Remember how ea bought it?

Remember how the Last one panned out? (see metacritic for C&C 4).

Remember Bioware's ORGINAL Forum Site Pre-Dragon Age and PRE-ea consumption and how closely the final game followed the desires of the faithful fanbase?

Look at This one.

Does a pattern emerge?

I weep for those at Bioware who are watching their creation warped, streamlined, simplified, etc. and are helpless to stop it..  Well, to their credit they were compensated.

ea tried to buy GTA but happily they failed.

I know this is a business and to think there is anything else but ultimate console profitability on ea/bioware's mind is delusional at best.

I do know that the Original (Unpatched) dragon age game is still highly moddable.     Girl on morrigan for anyone? no jealousy in camp? you betcha!  fabulously attractive outfits, structures etc all from NEXUS and other websites.

I take some comfort in the fact that Dragon Age as originally released and now wildly modified by me and others will remain my choice for single player games to cherish.

I hope I am wrong that Bioware has abandoned us as far as customization, (PC users most Unique Advantage) but it is rapidly looking as if we will (well not me... :(   ) be forced onto a path that seemed similar with  the Madden football game.... did you know it came out first on the PC and now its ONLY a console game..who makes it again?

PS  I challenge ea/bioware to respond and deny this.

I don't. I guess there's a reason for it.

Pray Gaider doesn't spot this, or else you'll be ridiculed beyond all reason.

Ah Red Alert... so many experiences of role playing with the Spy who always said "For King and Country" and making rediculous amounts of telsacoils.

~15 year olds are the gaming industry's target of choice when it comes to marketting its sad but true. They get priority so games get "casualized" and dumbed down theres nothing you can really do about it except for not buy it.

I'm starting to take a interest in Japanese game developers though like the ones who created Demon's Souls (A RPG that i never even heard of until i saw on the shelf by dumb luck) bought it out of curiosity and it was fantastic. Cant wait for Project Dark by the way... very old style.

You guys do realize the Bioware is doing exactly what Westwood did (which put them under).

They are making a costly Science Fiction MMO, and a FPS spinoff of Baldur's Gate.

Wait nevermind, they are doing a costly Sci_fi MMO and there was a hack and slash spinoff of Baldur's Gate back in the day but Bioware was uninvolved. NEVERMIND

If anything about the only thing you can say that is happening to Bioware is what happened to Treyarch, or Naughty Dog

You'd think they'd target people who earn their own money and don't have that much time to play games since they have to work and maybe a family and all. That's why games get "casualized", they're for the 15 year-olds of 15 years ago who could spend hour upon hour on a game and still find new ways to enjoy it, but now can't.

Nevertheless, I'm not under the impression that DA2 is going casual...

Yeah, GTA almost had a creative direction and a better third-person shooter engine for a second there.  Good thing they avoided all of that nasty raw capital.

Hopefully in GTA 5 I can still strangle myself with my arm as I fire a gun at a target behind my character in repetitive mission 56 out of 1067.

I never understood why GTA4 got so many excellent reviews and sales, since it's the same as the others.
Stealing vehicles, committing crimes...repeat and repeat.

It won't matter; by writing that, they've basically yelled from the mountaintops that they just want to get into a fight with a dev. Some people just think that they know more about business/video game development/other people's thought patterns than they actually do. Getting into a verbal "fight" with a developer will justify their rage to them. I highly doubt that they really care about being told what is going on in reality.

It's been a while since someone bashed on EA. I guess it was overdue.

I hate to tell you OP, but no employee will tell you the inner workings of EA/Bioware. The most you'll get is ridiculed for this post. Oh and of course probably a lock notice too.

This isn't even DA2 related, to be honest.

Well it is DA related since apparently OP thinks they canceled the PC version in favor of a console only release. Just like Command and Conquer. Wait that doesn't make any sense either.

I love how in one breath you (melodramatically) lament the "warping" of the sanctity of BioWare's creative vision, and in the next you're raving about getting to have Morrigan do girl-on-girl and cutting out parts of the women's personality so they won't raise a fuss if you want to cheat on them.

The final game had perma-death?
An inventory system that made the Mad One happy?
Day/Night cycle?
Normal sized weapons?
Bowstrings?
Armor and weapon stats per the endless ARMA links?

...Just off the top of my head.  Really, the DA2 forum is remarkably similar to the original PRE-ea (heh, do you hate EA so much you couldn't bring yourself to capitilize the letters? :P)

The biggest difference I notice between the old Bioware DA:O forums and DA2's is complaints that with a five year development time the graphics suck; now with a much shorter dev time the game must suck.

I wouldn't. You know how he likes to be contrary at times. He might just ignore the thread if you try to bait him into coming. Better he stumble across it on his own. :?

Ahh. I love it when people sympathize with those they imagine to be wronged.

I've decided that the OP is well intended, but misdirected, because, really, the only other way to see it would be trolling, and that would never happen here.

So, thanks for your support! We're doing okay. *thumbs-up*

And I agree Mr.Laidlaw, trolling is something that we've never seen on this forums
