This will be lost on those under 30ish but....

Remember Command and Conquer by Westwood Studios?

Remember how ea bought it?

Remember how the Last one panned out? (see metacritic for C&C 4).

Remember Bioware's ORGINAL Forum Site Pre-Dragon Age and PRE-ea consumption and how closely the final game followed the desires of the faithful fanbase?

Look at This one.

Does a pattern emerge?

I weep for those at Bioware who are watching their creation warped, streamlined, simplified, etc. and are helpless to stop it..  Well, to their credit they were compensated.

ea tried to buy GTA but happily they failed.

I know this is a business and to think there is anything else but ultimate console profitability on ea/bioware's mind is delusional at best.

I do know that the Original (Unpatched) dragon age game is still highly moddable.     Girl on morrigan for anyone? no jealousy in camp? you betcha!  fabulously attractive outfits, structures etc all from NEXUS and other websites.

I take some comfort in the fact that Dragon Age as originally released and now wildly modified by me and others will remain my choice for single player games to cherish.

I hope I am wrong that Bioware has abandoned us as far as customization, (PC users most Unique Advantage) but it is rapidly looking as if we will (well not me... :(   ) be forced onto a path that seemed similar with  the Madden football game.... did you know it came out first on the PC and now its ONLY a console game..who makes it again?

PS  I challenge ea/bioware to respond and deny this.

Ahh. I love it when people sympathize with those they imagine to be wronged.

I've decided that the OP is well intended, but misdirected, because, really, the only other way to see it would be trolling, and that would never happen here.

So, thanks for your support! We're doing okay. *thumbs-up*

Thanks for the tears. They're not brought on by anything I'm
responsible for, so they're not as nutritious, but they're appreciated
nonetheless.

Mr. Gaider, come on. We know you feed on our fear, but also our tears?
We're doomed.

We writers have always fed on your tears. The part where we get to enjoy watching people melodramatically throw themselves around the forums while they rend their shirts is just an added bonus.

I don't know what the OP really wants us to say. It's a win/win for the pessimist-- if we do go under for some reason, they get to blame either EA or our hubris. If we don't, they get to blame the unwashed masses for continuing to ruin their lives. So that'll be fun for them, barring the fact that they're not getting the exact kind of game they apparently want. Not that these people ever seem to, from all I've seen on my times on the forums.

At any rate, I hope they do find a game that's exactly what they want. I'm not sure why it has to be ours-- and I'm not really sure where the OP gets his ideas on what DA2 is, to be honest, but then again I'm not sure any of us can discourage the doomsayers until and unless the game itself comes out. Then, of course, we'll have another completely different kind of doomsayer to contend with.

Exciting! :wizard:

This is the un-edited version, baby, typos and bad grammar and all. ;)

It will be pretty disappointing if the DAO toolset is not upgraded for us after DA2 is released.

I agree. That would be too bad. We'll find out after the game is released-- really the editor for DAO wouldn't have come out until well after the game was released if the PC version hadn't been delayed. But I imagine some people would look on any non-simultaneous editor release as evidence of a conspiracy.

I also suspect that, since the DAO editor is so close to what we're using, that someone will probably get it to work on their own even before we do anything-- but that's only because I believe in the intrepid-ness of modders. :)

I'd hope so too, but at the same time, to my knowledge nobody has gotten Awakening working with the toolset, so it would likely be even more difficult with DA2...

Probably because the potential interested audience for Awakening is a lot smaller, but you could be right. Regardless, I'm pretty sure that Mike et. al. are very aware of how interested the PC community is in modding-- so if it doesn't happen it'll be a resource/time issue and nothing more. Which would indeed be too bad, but there's been no decision made yet. We're too busy to think about that right now.

So stop chatting with us and put your foot down :P Be clear the virtual pitchforks and torches shall be raised!! I would be the lone nutjob thats actually outside your offices in Edmenton but there was this whole sorrid business with a moose last time I was in Canada and I am still not allowed to cross that border.

Well, there's nothing that putting *my* foot down will do. That decision has nothing to do with me.

And even if it did, there's probably nothing that can happen on a Saturday night right before I head out for some needed dancing. I'm going to go shimmy a little extra tonight at the thought that someone actually claims they know how the guys at Westwood felt-- or how we feel-- because they like games. I think that's worth a shimmy or two. :)

Oh, he'll survive, don't you worry. As long as he knows how to love, you know he'll be alive.

In regards to Mr Gaider, it comes down to atitude, when you treat the members of your fanbase that question a design decision with snark on a regular basis, don't expect to be very respected.

Coming from you, I find that ironic.

Sadly, it seems like some people take their rudeness as a given-- something that other people are just supposed to ignore as par for the course, and then they act surprised or defensive when someone calls them on it, like they're suddenly being oppressed by the "legions of fanboys".

Or, you know, you could just be a jerk.

I'm always willing to offer respect when it's offered in return. If someone wants to accuse me of being snarky or condescending because I refuse to ignore their rudeness-- I have no problem with that, as I'm fully aware of just how often I have polite, enlightening conversations with very reasonable folks on these forums (whether they are critical or not) and the ones doing all the finger-pointing just happen to also be the ones that don't do any of the listening and weren't interested in having an actual conversation in the first place.

Not that I don't believe that you can be a pleasent conversation partner, just that its not often I see it and not necessarily in replies to me.

I don't know what to tell you. It happens quite frequently on these forums, in my experience. Perhaps it's a case of seeing only what you want to see? Or perhaps it's a case of you only spending time in threads where people are trading insults like "fanboy" and "troll" and then someone pulls out the PC elitist card and starts referring to console users as idiots and "ADHD kiddies" like that's just their honest appraisal and not intended to actually offend anyone?

Clearly it's not just you that's doing this, Sarah, but I do tend to see you right in the middle of these exchanges when they happen-- and you're almost always acting innocent. So you'll have to forgive my dubiousness regarding any assessment of my interactions on the forum when you're so clearly unwilling/unable to do the same for yourself.

Or perhaps it's an honest mistake. I guess we'll see.

That's enough nastiness, bashing, and off-topicness, thank you.

End of line.
