The OP was giving BioWare a ton of credit for modding ability, something that gets taken for granted considering that DA could very well have been a toolset less game. I wish these modding and toolet set fanboys/fangirls would stop giving BioWare usch high praise. ;O)

Why yes I do  of course his brother and New Kids on the Block blew him out the water but then were a bit off topic now.

We're doomed.

We writers have always fed on your tears. The part where we get to enjoy watching people melodramatically throw themselves around the forums while they rend their shirts is just an added bonus.

But that the problem isn't it? It ALWAYS those PC fanboys who B*tch and Moan over how something is RUINED FOREVER!!!1!.

Dragon age had what? One game, two novels, a online game, expansion pack and a couple of DLC.
How is it Ruined when it never fully launch into a series yet?

"Oh the PC will be let out!"

Merida! It always the consoles that get let out! We always get less polished features and overall crappy Reception.
Frome the fanbase.

Did Dragon age do that? Nope, Got the same features as the PC except for some trvial matters.  Also PC owners get to modify their game so it looks better and change how characters looked.

Consoles Fanboys? We're glad just to get some love.
So THANK YOU DAVID, THANK YOU BIOWARE.

Keep on doing that Crazy thing you do.

I do know that the Original (Unpatched) dragon age game is still highly moddable.     Girl on morrigan for anyone?

No thanks.

By the way... Dragon Age (patched) is still highly moddable too. In fact... I'm doing that.

YuniSticksitDeep wrote...
I take some comfort in the fact that Dragon Age as originally released and now wildly modified by me and others will remain my choice for single player games to cherish.

I hope I am wrong that Bioware has abandoned us as far as customization, (PC users most Unique Advantage) but it is rapidly looking as if we will (well not me... :(   ) be forced onto a path that seemed similar with  the Madden football game.... did you know it came out first on the PC and now its ONLY a console game..who makes it again?

Sorry... I must have missed something because I can't see a logical sequence of sentences here.

YuniSticksitDeep wrote...
PS  I challenge ea/bioware to respond and deny this.

With what? For what reason?

Anyway... I hope you enjoy playing games in the future... As someone who enjoys BioWare's games, I hope that you continue to buy and enjoy BioWare games as well, but if you don't.... well, I guess that will be your loss.

Do you remember the last two games Westwood made

C&C Renegade which, despite a substandard single player, had a particularly inspired and, to this day, unique multiplayer.
Earth & Beyond which...I never played. I'm told it was good...but wasn't interested in MMO's.

Westwood, in essence, got dicked. They were 90% complete with a brand new type of game that nobody had ever done before, and EA steps in and says "Either it sells well, or we're shutting you down." The game, of course, suffers from shortages and some of my friends couldn't even find a copy until more than a month after release. EA then takes the liscence, and releases a rather hideous title named C&C Generals...thus openly proclaiming that they wanted the C&C name for their inhouse titles.

I don't think that's what's going on here...at all. Just because they are making some decisions YOU don't like doesn't mean EA is forcing them to do anything.

It will be pretty disappointing if the DAO toolset is not upgraded for us after DA2 is released.

The multiplayer of Renegade was very good.  However it launched near the time of Battlefield so the numbers were extremely low.  Kind of disapointing in retrospect, liked Renegade more than BF1942.

Earth and Beyond had a similar problem.  I remember Freedom Force, Renegade and E&B tanking around the same time.  Freedom Force the most successful of those three but the other two not so much.

Westwood's demise doesn't sound that far fetched to me.  How many companies survive a failed MMO?  Much less two consecutive products that tanked.  Also I don't recall Dune 2000 and that other Dune sequel being that successful either.  They had Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 under EA but that was pretty much it from a success standpoint.

SOME OF THOSE OLD VIDEO GAMES... FFFFFFFFFF

There is a significant lack of Mech Games.   About the only thing is Armored Core, which is more about building the damn things.

I agree. That would be too bad. We'll find out after the game is released-- really the editor for DAO wouldn't have come out until well after the game was released if the PC version hadn't been delayed. But I imagine some people would look on any non-simultaneous editor release as evidence of a conspiracy.

I also suspect that, since the DAO editor is so close to what we're using, that someone will probably get it to work on their own even before we do anything-- but that's only because I believe in the intrepid-ness of modders. :)

BTW, I know it's not the topic, but I had to say it. I finished reading The Stolen Throne Today, and it was great. It's up there in my book shelf, between The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion  (I know you don't like this one, Mr. Gaider).

Why is it between? ALso if people dont like reading hostory textbooks that is prolly the main reason they dont like The Silmarillion.

Well, Tolkien's books are my favorites.

I'd hope so too, but at the same time, to my knowledge nobody has gotten Awakening working with the toolset, so it would likely be even more difficult with DA2...

Probably because the potential interested audience for Awakening is a lot smaller, but you could be right. Regardless, I'm pretty sure that Mike et. al. are very aware of how interested the PC community is in modding-- so if it doesn't happen it'll be a resource/time issue and nothing more. Which would indeed be too bad, but there's been no decision made yet. We're too busy to think about that right now.

As a modder, it's great to know that you're thinking of us even though you no doubt being worked to the bone for the release of DA2. I'd love to see modders get the ability to produce content for DA2 if that part of the dev team gets time to work up modifications to the publicly available toolset.

Ya Sutamina has 1 up on me I could never finish those old Battletech games. Pretty sure thos 5 and a quarter floppys are still in my storage hole.
Good news is a new MechWarrior is confirmed as being under development  the video. If its half as good as that video... *drool*
THere have been some others put out besides the AC series. I remember one on the PS2 Red Ring I liked and theres another that a turn based tactical type of game.

Well, there's nothing that putting *my* foot down will do. That decision has nothing to do with me.

And even if it did, there's probably nothing that can happen on a Saturday night right before I head out for some needed dancing. I'm going to go shimmy a little extra tonight at the thought that someone actually claims they know how the guys at Westwood felt-- or how we feel-- because they like games. I think that's worth a shimmy or two. :)
