Do any of you agree that ME3 should be 3-4 disks long like some Final Fantasy games and others?

if we got a 3-4 disk Mass Effect 3 game next year then it would match up to the awesomenessnessness with ME and ME2 story

what do the rest of you think? I would like to know

[edit]

lets try to be productive for BW so we can get an epic game everyone

or it could be what ADLegend21 said
me1= 1 disk
me2=2 discs
me3= 3 discs

lolz

I created a poll for this idea HERE

3 disks would not bother me too much especially how we are all expecting this game to be huge but I would have to say that 4 would be pushing it. To me it just seems excessive to go beyond the number 3 here.

Back in my day developers would try to make games as small as possible.

A 3D FPS clocking in at 94KB, that is what I like to see.

FFS 9 had 4 discs and it was the best in the series.

Baldur's Gate had 5 discs and it was the first in its series
]
PHANTASMAGORIA.

Also DVD/Bluray holds much more space than CD or rom carts

Back in my day N64 games were just like PS1 games except PS1 games could hold more memory for soudn and textures while the hardware of the N64 was technically a little more powerful.

^@ PWENER Not debating that at all. I was just saying that for ME3 on the 360/PC it would be excessive.

Excessive how? It wouldn't break the game or anything. I think...

I'm all for a 3 disc ME3, though I doubt it will happen.

ME2 was only 1 disc for me!

*is PC user*

But, it's possible that ME3 will be longer....I hope so. But I also hope it's quality...quality is most important.

I play on PC, so I don't care how many discs long it is. After install it'll always been one disc long.

I think ME 3 should be a LOT longer that ME 2, to compesate how little the plot advanced in ME 2.

FFS 9 had 4 discs and it was the best in the series.

It wasn't, i consider it to be the third best in the series.

But i agree ME should be 4 disc and 80 hours long at least.

Hell No switching disc's is ridiculous in this day and age and if it is you should be able to install all 3 disc and play it only one disc in the system.

The problem with making the next Mass Effect 3 - 4 discs long is the royalty fee.  Microsoft charges a fee (the amount is not public knowledge but it is believed to be between $5 - $7) PER DISC.  In layman terms it is not economically viable to produce a game on the xbox 360 that uses more than 2 discs.

If your xbox game uses 1 disc then the royalty fee is between $5 - $7
If your xbox game uses 2 discs then the royalty fee is between $10 - $14
If your xbox game uses 3 discs then the royalty fee is between $15 - $21
If your xbox game uses 4 discs then the royalty fee is between $20 - $28

So if Bioware made a 4 disc version of Mass Effect 3 then nearly half the sale price would go straight to Microsoft unless they jacked up the price of Mass Effect 3 significantly

Here is what John Carmack had to say on multi disc games on the xbox 360 :-

We all want the biggest, bestest finale to Mass Effect we can have but sadly we have to face the fact that ME 3 will HAVE to fit on 2 discs and no more.

I think it should be on 3 discs, though quality should come before quantity. First of all the story needs to cover a lot as ME2 really didn't progress the story as much as I had hoped. It did in more subtle ways that ME3, but still at the end I felt no closer to my goal than at the end of ME1. So, yeah, it has to cover a lot of ground. Also, we know BW is going to want to make this thing easy on new people, so we'll most likely get a new story and basically start all over again. Finally, I don't want BW to have to sacrifice one great aspect of the game for another just to limit both gameplay time and disc quantity. Yeah, ME3 is the end of Commander Shepard and there is no good reason BW should pull out all the stops.

Edit: Yes, I'm on PC.

5$ to $7 dollars per disc? I don't care, I'd pay up to 150$ for the final game in the saga.
