I don't mind the multiple discs, but I hate how I have both discs installed and it still requires switching.

Yes I know it's supposed to help prevent piracy, but I think it is misguided. Piracy still exists just fine, but now they are punishing legitimate customers. Actually that's the way it usually goes.

Back in my day developers would try to make games as small as possible.

A 3D FPS clocking in at 94KB, that is what I like to see.

This still exists you know. I know some seriously smart nerds that spend a lot of their spare time on this type of thing.

Hmm, I didn't realize about the royalty fee but it explains quite a bit more why games are usually 1 or at most 2 discs.

Blue Dragon is a X360 game with 4 discs and I absolutely adore it. The videos and gameplay are very immersive and me and my brother enjoyed it to the end. I had hoped that ME3 could go out with a bang and have indeed 3-4 discs as well. Atlernate ending(s) and decisions you made in 1 & 2 could highly effect the ending(s) as well (I could list one but it would be a spoiler). Not just ending(s) but romance options, more movies/cinema effect, party banter and just little things that could add a place in your heart.

Wasn't Baldur's Gate on 7 CDs? I remember it being utterly ridiculous at least. Luckily you could install it all.

The disk swapping never bothered me, Casey Hudson has said ME3 has to be perfect if that means 3 or more disks I will have no qualms.Image IPB

Just saying it's stupid that they force you to switch discs to avoid piracy that they basically can't avoid anyway. This detracts (ever so slightly) from the game for console players.

Not going to make me hate the game exactly, but it is going to make me roll my eyes at their silly anti-piracy countermeasures.

With the success of ME2, its feasible BW may still release the game with 3 discs. How many other games do you know has gotten a metascore that ME2 received?

I personally don't care if ME3 is 10 discs.

If BW makes an awesome story that ties up the loose ends, then I'm happy.

Discs videogame companies are using for their games can hold exponentially a whole lot more than in the past.

For example final fantasy 13 for xbox 360 had 3 discs.. why...? because their discs aren't blu-ray format and hold less space. FF 13 for ps3 only needed 1 disc and they're essentially the same game.

So if you're saying that mass effect 3 will have triple or double the content of mass effect 2.

Holy sh t!! but seriously 3 disks would be reasonable enough (taking a guess they're using the same type of disk mass effect 2 is on)

With a truck-load of squadies (and I do hope they'll bring the whole team back, ME1 & ME2 >_<' wishful thinking, though) and a total of 9 LI's that each needs it's own unique story continuation and interaction as friends/LI.

Not to mention about multiple endings... I think it'll require more than a disc or two O_o

Heck, throw in 7 discs or more if the game delivers, executed well and ties all loose ends in a satisfying manner, I'll definitely buy.

The next Castlevania coming for Xbox has 2 discs and it has the option to install them on the hdd and use only one on the console without swapping the other.

So they can do the same for Mass Effect 3.

Just do it.

Soo... ME3 will take around 21GBs of HDD. Damn, and I thought the current 3GBs ME2 DLC takes is a lot

But sure it's good for the people who can do it. I couldn't even if I deleted everything

Of course not everybody could use this option, but it's something very useful to avoid swapping every time you want to move to a different location.
Star Ocean was incredibly annoying for this (and for some damm long scenes).

And they can always do a special edition with a 120GB's hard disk included!:D

I know a bunch of people who're thinking of upgrading their HDDs... if Mass Effect 3 came with the option of installing all discs and using just 1 to play, I know for a fact that they'd cave to buying a new harddrive.

It could come on 20 discs. As long as the number of discs doesn't change the price, then go for it.

Please allow the option to install all two to three disks to HD and play off one.

It would seem 3 discs for ME3 would be logical, right? I'd love that as long as it's packed with the best story material. I want to **** my pants for this ending.

Why dont they simply just release 1 disc for Xbox users and then give Xbox users a code on said disc (Note: I said ON as in burned into a file that you can acess from the main menu) and then have people enter this code and download the 2nd disc (which will then be stored on the harddrive)

The ''lending disc and still playing'' would not be an issue since they still need disc 1.

What if you dont have a HD or a Flashdrive or Xbox live or a internet connection? You can't alienate the audience like that.

Honestly, I don't see how they could do it with fewer than 3 discs. It will require them to segmentalize the story, though, to minimize the need to swap discs during gameplay.

Baldur's Gate came on five CDs, six if you count Tales of the Sword Coast. Baldur's Gate 2 which was way bigger than BG1 came on four CD's, five if you include Throne of Bhaal. Bigger game doesn't necessarily equal more discs.

if it requres multiple discs what would be so wrong with an install disk on consoles disc swapping is redundant in a world where all consoles have harddrives

I don't care how many disks they use, i just want something so amazing and filled with so much content that i have an epicgasm at the conclusion of the game.
